The Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) (INSIGHT) are always committed to supporting the strengthening of community independence through a series of inclusive and sustainable empowerment initiatives.<\/p>\n
The management of PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) (INSIGHT) collaborates with the Indonesian Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) and a number of institutions to detect knees as an effort to prevent early abnormalities in thalassemia sufferers.<\/p>\n
PT INSIGHT’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Coordinator, Suluh Tripambudi Rahardjo, in a written statement in Jakarta, Tuesday, said that this detection program for the knee bones of people with thalassemia is a social activity for the community.<\/p>\n
A number of institutions are involved in this social activity, namely the Indonesian Thalassemia Foundation (YTI), Indonesian Thalassemia Friends, and the Indonesian Pediatric Radiology Subspecialist Association (PSRAI).<\/p>\n
“This event is an early detection effort for people with thalassemia to prevent the risk of disability due to disease complications and joint and bone disorders due to long-term deferiprone therapy in people with thalassemia major,” said Suluh.<\/p>\n
Suluh said the social program was in line with the government’s ideas regarding sustainable development (Sustainable Development Goals\/SDGs) regarding good health and prosperity, as well as partnerships to achieve common goals.<\/p>\n
PSRAI member and examining doctor, Dr. Tigor Yehezkiel Sp. Rad, said that thalassemia is a disease that often occurs and spreads massively in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
Tigor said that society requires high costs to detect early damage to joints and bones due to complications of thalassemia.<\/p>\n
“An ultrasound device can be an alternative choice for early detection of this disorder with high sensitivity and specificity along with an affordable price so that economically disadvantaged people can be helped,” said Tigor.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, YIIM administrator Secretary Dewi Astari hopes that this program can help families and people with thalassemia who are economically disadvantaged, considering that the very expensive costs of medical examinations are borne by the families of people with thalassemia.<\/p>\n
The event was held for two days on 16-17 October 2021 with the target of 50 children aged 2-17 years with thalassemia major undergoing examination led by Dr. Tigor Ezekiel Sp. Rad and DR Merry T.P Hutagalung.<\/p>\n
Thalassemia is a blood disorder that is passed down from one or both parents to the child.<\/p>\n
Thalassemia sufferers will experience anemia or lack of blood with complaints, such as getting tired quickly, becoming sleepy easily and short of breath.<\/p>\n
Through this synergy and initiative, the Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) hopes that the programs implemented can provide real benefits, open up wider opportunities for independence for participants, and actively contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n
