, JAKARTA \u2013 Support the economic improvement of small and medium communities, especially in the culinary sector; The Indonesia Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Insight Investment Management (PT IIM) launched the 2018-2020 Culinary Class Alumni Cake and Cooking Recipe Collection book on Wednesday (31\/3\/2021).<\/p>\n
The book launch which was held in a webminar entitled ‘Advancing Culinary MSMEs during the Covid-19 Pandemic’ was attended by 100 participants from various backgrounds, including students, YIIM beneficiaries, students, social activists and the general public.<\/p>\n
Apart from that, PT IIM Director Ria Meristika Warganda, YIIM Secretary Dewi Astari, Sarinah Institute Director Eva Kusuma Sundari, Content Writer Marketing Titan Baking Florensia, DKI Jakarta DPRD Member Dwi Wijayanto Rio Sambodo and Andini Setawati, representatives of YIIM Cooking Class Training Alumni.<\/p>\n
In her speech, Ria Meristika Warganda explained the reasons for launching the 2018-2020 Culinary Class Alumni Recipe Book.<\/p>\n
According to him, the Covid-19 pandemic that hit the whole world, including Indonesia, triggered an economic recession in the past year.<\/p>\n
All economic sectors experienced a slowdown which resulted in mass layoffs and unemployment.<\/p>\n
However, behind the various limitations experienced by society, he believes there are promising business opportunities.<\/p>\n
One of them is the culinary field.<\/p>\n
Referring to this, YIIM as a non-profit institution that focuses on community economic empowerment has been holding culinary entrepreneurship training since 2018-2020.<\/p>\n
Through this culinary training, YIIM said it had succeeded in producing 56 entrepreneurs in the culinary field.<\/p>\n
These entrepreneurs also created a variety of their own superior recipes.<\/p>\n
“In February 2021, YIIM collected a collection of food recipes that had been made by training alumni from 2018 to 2020, summarized into a book entitled ‘Various Collection of Recipes’. This book displays all the recipes that have been taught and become their mainstay menu for starting culinary businesses,” explained Ria Meristika Warganda.<\/p>\n
For YIIM, this book is not just a cookbook, but is proof of the importance of the social entrepreneurship movement in empowering the economy of small communities.<\/p>\n
“The Covid-19 pandemic is not only a health problem, but has developed into a global economic issue. And MSMEs, one of the components in advancing the economy of small communities, must be fully supported to revive the national economy,” explained Ria Meristika Warganda.<\/p>\n
Dewi Astari also conveyed the same thing.<\/p>\n
In her presentation, Dewi Astari conveyed the four pillars of the YIIM program, namely Education, Community Empowerment, Social Humanity and Religion, and Environmental Conservation.<\/p>\n
He continued, the community empowerment program is one of YIIM’s flagship programs.<\/p>\n
Because, through various entrepreneurship training, it is hoped that there will be an increase in welfare for underprivileged communities.<\/p>\n
“This training is expected to create an increase in human resources with an independent economy and the birth of social entrepreneurs who can have an impact on the surrounding environment,” added Dewi Astari.<\/p>\n
He also hopes that through the birth of this recipe book, people will be inspired to start culinary businesses in the future.<\/p>\n
“We hope that this book can have a social impact on the community and YIIM alumni,” said Dewi Astari hopefully.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Dwi Wijayanto Rio Sambodo admitted that he fully supports the steps taken by YIIM and PT IIM in advancing culinary MSMEs, especially in the DKI Jakarta area.<\/p>\n
He also hopes that all stake holders can join hands in supporting the development of MSMEs.<\/p>\n
“The DKI Jakarta DPRD is open and willing to bridge with other policy makers for this Culinary MSME empowerment program,” he said.<\/p>\n
Creative Economy<\/p>\n
In line with the vision and mission of YIIIM and PT IIM, Eva Kusuma Sundari said that culinary is one of the products from the creative economy sector which is currently being promoted by the government.<\/p>\n
Therefore, empowering MSMEs in the culinary sector must be based on creativity supported by the use of information technology, such as social media in business development.<\/p>\n
“The hope is that it can encourage the realization of social welfare for the Indonesian people with a bottom up mechanism,” explained Eva Kusuma Sundari.<\/p>\n
Florence also said the same thing.<\/p>\n
He believes that the culinary business can overcome society’s economic inequality.<\/p>\n
However, various factors are needed, from increasing capabilities, capital to marketing to develop a culinary business.<\/p>\n
“Culinary business actors must innovate so that their businesses survive and develop, including product innovation, going digital such as utilizing digital platforms and social media,” explained Florence.<\/p>\n
“Titan Baking as YIIM’s partner is very happy with the launch of this book. Hopefully it can provide business inspiration for the wider community,” he added.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Andini Setiawati as YIIM Culinary Training Alumni expressed her happiness at being part of the entrepreneurship training held by YIIM and PT IIM.<\/p>\n
“I am very happy and grateful to be able to get the opportunity to take part in cooking class training from YIIM, and also get assistance with business equipment,” said Andini Setiawati.<\/p>\n
“Thanks to assistance from YIIM and PT Insight, now I can help my family’s economy. By making this book, I hope it can help other small communities to start culinary businesses,” he concluded.<\/p>\n
The same statement was also made by a number of webinar participants.<\/p>\n
They said they were happy and hoped that all businesses could have a social impact on society.<\/p>\n
