The Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) together with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) (LPSK) are always committed to supporting the strengthening of community independence through a series of inclusive and sustainable empowerment initiatives.<\/p>\n
The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) (LPSK) in collaboration with the Indonesian Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) held a “Victim Economic Empowerment Workshop through Skills Provisioning” in Solo, Central Java, Wednesday.<\/p>\n
At the Warkshop event for Economic Empowerment of Victims through Providing Barbershop Skills and AC Services which will take place for the next three days while still implementing health protocols, and was opened directly by the Chairman of LPSK Hasto Atmojo Suroyo.<\/p>\n
According to Hasto, LPSK is a state institution that is given a mandate in accordance with Law No.31 of 2014 concerning amendments to Law No.13\/2006 concerning Protection of Witnesses and Victims.<\/p>\n
LPSK is given the authority to fulfill victims’ rights, one of which is providing psychosocial rehabilitation. Psychosocial rehabilitation is a form of service that aims to restore the victim’s social function so that they can interact properly in their social environment.<\/p>\n
These services can be in the form of business capital assistance, business development training, education or employment.<\/p>\n
Hasto explained that to realize psychosocial rehabilitation, LPSK cannot follow up alone, so it needs to work together with parties who are in accordance with the psychosocial needs of the victims.<\/p>\n
In this case, LPSK together with YIIM held a Workshop on Economic Empowerment of Victims by Providing Barbershop and AC Service Skills to victims of criminal acts who are protected by LPSK.<\/p>\n
This, continued Harto, is intended as a recovery step so that victims can regain their power, especially economically, so they can return to their normal activities in their social environment.<\/p>\n
“We, as witnesses, are usually given protection so that they have the courage to give testimony so that the judicial process can run well, and a sense of justice can also be achieved for everyone,” said Hasto.<\/p>\n
Therefore, LPSK is mandated by law to provide medical and psychosocial rehabilitation services for these victims. This Social Rehabilitation is intended to restore the socio-economic conditions of the victims’ and victims’ families so that they can continue as usual and recover to carry out their functions as a family.<\/p>\n
“I’ll take the example of a family that experienced a crime and the head of the family died. This will disrupt the family’s economy,” said Hasto.<\/p>\n
Therefore, LPSK is obliged to provide psychosocial services to these families, but this is not done by LPSK itself. However, for medical and psychological purposes you can do LPSK yourself.<\/p>\n
For psychosocial purposes, they can collaborate with other institutions, be it the central or regional government or private institutions, such as now with YIIM, which works together to provide provisions.<\/p>\n
Apart from that, LPSK can also collaborate with institutions such as Lazismu, Dompet Duafa, and then there are also BUMN who are asked to provide assistance to these victims, in the form of providing business capital and so on. This is facilitated by LPSK.<\/p>\n
LPSK also has the authority to facilitate services for compensation claims from victims, both to perpetrators and compensation paid by the state to victims. In Indonesia there are only two criminal acts whose victims are entitled to compensation, namely victims of serious human rights violations and victims of terrorism.<\/p>\n
Especially for victims of serious human rights violations, this cannot be facilitated because the legal process is still not running. However, for victims of criminal acts of terrorism, LPSK has made many payments on behalf of the state to victims. The number is around 300 victims from all over Indonesia.<\/p>\n
At the workshop event for Economic Empowerment of Victims through Skills Provisioning by implementing disciplined health protocols, 25 victims in Soloraya participated, who were previously given rapid tests. Initially there were 30 participants but because of the rapid test results there were five who were reactive and were eventually sent home, and only 25 participants participated.<\/p>\n
Through this synergy and initiative, the Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) hopes that the programs implemented can provide real benefits, open up wider opportunities for independence for participants, and actively contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n
