The Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) together with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) (LPSK) are always committed to supporting the strengthening of community independence through a series of inclusive and sustainable empowerment initiatives.<\/p>\n
As mandated by the provisions of Law Number 31 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 13 of 2006 concerning Protection of Witnesses and Victims, LPSK is a state institution that is given the authority to provide protection services and assistance to victims of criminal acts in certain cases, including providing medical assistance, psychological and psychosocial rehabilitation, as well as restitution and compensation facilities.<\/p>\n
Today, October 22 2020, at the LPSK D. I. Yogyakarta representative office, LPSK is providing psychosocial services.<\/p>\n
Psychosocial rehabilitation is a form of service that aims to restore the victim’s social function so that they can interact properly in their social environment. These services can be in the form of business capital assistance, business development training, education, or employment.<\/p>\n
LPSK Chairman Hasto Atmojo Suroyo revealed that psychosocial services at LPSK have their own challenges. Even though this service is mandated by LPSK through law, in practice LPSK cannot carry it out themselves.<\/p>\n
“LPSK is required to be able to work together, map existing social programs in related agencies\/institutions, both government and non-government (private),” he said.<\/p>\n
The aim of psychosocial services for victims provided by LPSK is none other than LPSK’s efforts to help alleviate, protect and restore the victim’s physical, psychological, social and spiritual condition so that they are able to carry out their social life normally.<\/p>\n
This service can also be aimed at improving the quality of life of victims in the form of assistance with clothing, food, shelter, assistance in obtaining employment, or educational assistance.<\/p>\n
Hasto continued that currently LPSK is building a psychosocial assistance scheme for victims. One of the actions is to form a special psychosocial treatment team within the LPSK environment.<\/p>\n
This team’s tasks include mapping psychosocial assistance programs in government and private ministries\/institutions, including philanthropic institutions, and community groups that focus on social issues.<\/p>\n
The team is also tasked with compiling a road map for psychosocial programs\/services, including ensuring that the psychosocial services implemented are beneficial and are used as well as possible as an effort to develop the socio-economic development of victims.<\/p>\n
“For example, special assistance for victims who receive psychosocial services through training and business capital assistance,” continued Hasto as an example.<\/p>\n
On this occasion, LPSK, through support from the Amil Zakat Infaq Shadaqoh Muhammadiyah (Lazismu) Institute, will implement a psychosocial program in the form of business capital, educational scholarships, and medical expenses for 2 (two) victims of Domestic Violence and 4 (four) victims of Serious Abuse.<\/p>\n
Apart from that, Lazismu will also symbolically hand over 1000 food security aid packages in the form of canned food, which will be given to victims in the DIY, East Java, Central Java, West Java and Jakarta areas.<\/p>\n
This psychosocial program will be implemented simultaneously with the signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between LPSK and Lazismu regarding the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Assistance Program for LPSK Protected Crime Victims. The signing will be carried out by Maneger Nasution as Deputy Chair of the LPSK and Hilman Latief as Chair of Lazismu witnessed by the Chair of the LPSK Hasto Atmojo Suroyo and Deputy Chair of the LPSK Susilaningtias.<\/p>\n
Apart from collaborating with Lazismu, LPSK on this occasion also engaged the Indonesian Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) to hold economic empowerment training in the form of Urban Farming skills for victims.<\/p>\n
Training in the form of workshops regarding tabulampot (a method of cultivating fruit plants in pots) and practical compost making. The workshop will be guided directly by YIIM Director Chrisbiantoro, and will be attended by 25 victims from the Yogyakarta and Surakarta areas.<\/p>\n
It is hoped that this economic empowerment workshop can help participants\/victims have the expertise or skills to utilize land in their yards or small plots of land to grow crops, where the results can later be consumed by themselves for household needs or other needs (sold) to increase income. The training will take place for 2 (two) consecutive days, namely 22 to 23 October 2020.<\/p>\n
“We hope that the activities held this time can provide benefits for efforts to recover crime victims and become a trigger for others to support and participate in the LPSK psychosocial program,” concluded Hasto.<\/p>\n
Through this synergy and initiative, the Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) hopes that the programs implemented can provide real benefits, open up wider opportunities for independence for participants, and actively contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n
