The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of South Jakarta City received financial assistance from the private sector to deal with the Covid-19 outbreak. This assistance was provided after the South Jakarta City Government appealed to the general public and private companies to provide donations in any form to help the government reduce the spread of the corona virus. It is recorded that PMI South Jakarta received financial assistance of IDR 30 million from the Indonesia Building Inspiration Foundation (YMII).<\/p>\n
“We are providing this assistance so that it can be used to procure disinfectant liquid for spraying places of worship and public facilities,” said Chrisbiantoro as chairman of the YMII management, Tuesday (24\/3\/2020).<\/p>\n
Chrisbiantoro said that he, as a private party, feels the need to collaborate with the government to reduce the spread of Covid 19. He hopes that this action can also be imitated by other private parties. Responding to this, the Mayor of South Jakarta, Marullah Matali, is grateful if there are private parties who are willing to help the government in suppressing the spread of the Corona virus. Even though the donation is not directly given to the South Jakarta City Government, he is sure that the funds will be used as possible for handling Covid 19. “I appreciate people who want to donate to PMI South Jakarta, hopefully it can be used by residents in South Jakarta,” he said.<\/p>\n
Previously, the South Jakarta City Government was opening up assistance from residents and private parties who wanted to make donations. This is because the City Government still lacks several facilities to tackle the Covid-19 outbreak. Some of the items needed include VTM or virus transport media used for swab examinations (throat swabs) and N95 masks for staff caring for patients. “Apart from the needs of hospitals, health centers and clinics, surgical masks are also for the needs of the community. If colleagues and friends want to help, they can coordinate with the South Jakarta City Government,” said the Mayor of Jakarta, Isnawa Aji.<\/p>\n
