Skilled and Empowered Communities or what is known as (MATA<\/strong>) is one of the flagship programs of the Indonesian Inspiration Building Foundation together with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) (Insight IM). On Wednesday, October 23 2024, barberman social entrepreneurship training was held. Barbershops are now a basic necessity for men in everyday life, making work as a barber very promising and has great potential for success.<\/p>\n

The barber training program provides teaching in the form of material and practice for 5 days. In barber training, you will be given an in-depth introduction to the world of barbering. Participants have the opportunity to practice directly cutting hair accompanied by a trainer. Participants also carry out role plays in barber services according to customer expectations and are also given the opportunity to ask questions and share with trainers and assistant trainers who are experienced in the world of barbering.<\/p>\n

The training event was held at the Indonesian Building Inspiration Foundation Office located at Jalan Grand Wijaya Center Blok F\/62B, RT.6\/RW.1, Pulo Village, Kebayoran Baru District, South Jakarta City, Special Capital Region of Jakarta, which was held from 09.30 WIB to 15.30 WIB. The total number of participants who took part in the training was 10 people with backgrounds consisting of underprivileged communities and BAPAS clients. The barber training trainers are Syaifulloh as the main trainer and Hermanto as the assistant trainer.<\/p>\n

The first day of training began with a symbolic opening by Maria Dewi Yanti as Secretary of YIIM as well as several words of encouragement for the participants so that participants could take part in the training with enthusiasm and also focus on the material and practices provided by the trainer and assistant trainer. After being symbolically opened by YIIM, participants completed a pre-test to measure their knowledge of the world of barbering. Then the trainer starts the training with introductory material “steps in learning to shave hair”. Apart from the material, the trainer demonstrates these stages to the training participants so that the participants can get a picture of the stages of hair shaving. After the pilot haircut stage practice was completed, the first day of training closed with the trainer giving the participants the opportunity to ask questions regarding today’s material and practice that had been provided by the trainer. Furthermore, the second day began with a review of the material for the participants to measure the participants’ memory and understanding of the first day’s material. The material for the second day is “getting to know the technique of shaving hair”. The participants were divided into 5 groups and after that they were given the responsibility to shave the hair of the models provided by YIIM accompanied by trainers and assistant trainers. The participants were active in practicing and also had high enthusiasm in participating in the training. On the third day, the Trainer again reviewed the material for the participants and continued with the material “Hair Cutting Techniques”. In this material, participants were again divided into 5 groups consisting of 2 participants who were responsible for cutting the model’s hair. The participants experienced difficulties with the material this time and were not used to using the hair cutting techniques usually used by barbers. However, the participants seemed never to give up. Participants continue to try and ask the trainer about cutting their hair correctly.<\/p>\n

After yesterday’s material and practice regarding hair cutting techniques, on the fourth day participants were given material and practice in trimming hair. The participants experienced difficulty in determining the size of the clipper shoe for trimming hair. However, the understanding given by the trainer to the participants made the participants accustomed to and understand the use of clipper shoes.<\/p>\n

On the last day of training, training participants were given material related to the ethics of the barber profession. Apart from that, the participants were also given the opportunity to each be responsible for serving the models one by one while practicing according to the ethics of a barberman. After all participants had finished practicing, YIIM held a symbolic closing by Riccana Rosita as YIIM treasurer. He said, “Thank you to all the barber training participants this time, hopefully from this training friends can continue to develop and their knowledge doesn’t stop here. And also hopefully friends can be like Mr. Syaifulloh, who started as a YIIM alumni and now becomes a barber training trainer<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

Of the 5 days of training that was carried out, the majority of participants had very high and consistent enthusiasm. The participants’ willingness to learn and their high level of curiosity made them quickly master the material and practice of hair shaving.<\/p>\n

Participants were also given the opportunity to convey messages and impressions of the training held by YIIM. One of them was Budi Saputra, “Thank you to YIIM for holding barber training. I thought shaving was easy, but when I started learning it here, I felt that shaving takes time to get used to making it easy. I hope I can work in the barbering field until I open my own barber business”<\/em>.<\/p>\n

This program is also in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 1 about ending poverty, number 8 about decent work and economic growth, and number 10 about reducing inequality. This program is a manifestation of YIIM and Insight IM’s commitment through the distribution of social funds that can have a positive socio-economic impact on society.<\/p>\n

YIIM is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people from various circles, founded by social and humanitarian activists. To realize this goal, YIIM is open and open to all forms of cooperation from all groups so that it can be distributed to beneficiaries who need it.<\/p>\n
