Isnaini Hasan (37 years old), or commonly known as Isnaini, is an alumna of the AC service and washing training program in 2020 organized by the Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun Foundation (YIIM) together with PT. Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT).<\/p>\n
This program is a manifestation of INSIGHT’s commitment through YIIM’s programs to transform investments to bring about social impact. In addition, this program is also aligned with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG Number 1 on ending poverty, SDG Number 2 on ending hunger, and SDG Number 17 on Partnerships for the goals.<\/p>\n
Isnaini currently lives with his wife and his 4-year-old child in the Kalibata area. He had been working as a supervisor on a project outside the city for 5 years. However, the Covid-19 pandemic caused Isnaini to be laid off and eventually unemployed. During his unemployment, his family’s living expenses were supported by his wife who works as a marketing professional at a private company.<\/p>\n
Filling Free Time with Training<\/p>\n
While unemployed, Isnaini looked for new work and came across an Instagram post about AC training organized by YIIM and INSIGHT. Seeing the post, he was motivated to register and learn because he felt he had a basic understanding of machinery which would help him adapt quickly to the AC washing and service training.<\/p>\n
After waiting for some time, he was finally selected to participate in the AC washing and service training organized by YIIM and INSIGHT. He attended the training for 5 days and absorbed all the theory and practice taught by the trainer.<\/p>\n
Isnaini felt that this training was very beneficial for him and the instructors were experienced. The training was very useful because Isnaini came to understand and could practice well all the stages of AC washing, service, and refrigerant filling, which provided him with the capital to start his own business.<\/p>\n
Starting a Career in a New Field<\/p>\n
After completing the training, Isnaini was selected as one of the participants who received business equipment assistance from YIIM and INSIGHT, including an AC washing steam machine, wrenches, a ladder, and refrigerant.<\/p>\n
He immediately used the assistance to start an independent AC service business named “ARRAYAN TEKNIK”. Isnaini marketed the business by putting up a billboard in front of his house. Over time, Isnaini also marketed through social media such as Instagram and WhatsApp Business; the digital marketing strategy was something he learned from YIIM’s entrepreneurship management class.<\/p>\n
Initially, Isnaini ran the business by himself. But after a while, he invited some friends who were online motorcycle taxi drivers and also his younger brothers to help with the mobile AC service and refrigerant filling business, going from house to house and from neighborhood to neighborhood.<\/p>\n
Isnaini taught them everything from how to use the tools to inviting them to jump right into running the AC service business. He is happy to help his friends have work; so far, his customers are located around Pancoran, South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
For AC washing, Isnaini charges service fees starting from IDR 75,000 for houses and IDR 100,000 for apartments. For light service and replacing electronic components, he charges starting from IDR 150,000 to IDR 250,000. And for heavy service including refrigerant filling and repairing indoor and outdoor units, he charges starting from IDR 350,000 to IDR 500,000.<\/p>\n
Isnaini’s monthly income ranges from IDR 3,000,000 to IDR 4,000,000.<\/p>\n
In a month, Isnaini has an average of around 20 customers for AC washing. Then, for heavy AC service, he has an average of 8 customers. Isnaini feels that after the training, his self-confidence increased and his skills in the AC field also improved, leading to increased income to support his family’s daily needs.<\/p>\n
Spreading Knowledge to Many People<\/p>\n
Isnaini has grown more and is brave in learning from every experience he encounters when serving AC washing and service customers. He even became a trainer at Speedwork Academy to provide washing and service training for AC units in cars, buses, and refrigerated trucks.<\/p>\n
Isnaini became a trainer after a friend offered him the opportunity to do car AC service. He also wanted to learn about car AC in depth. He eventually joined a practical learning session at his friend’s car workshop, and he didn’t waste that opportunity to learn and practice car AC service.<\/p>\n
Currently, Isnaini has mastered both theory and practice for household AC washing and service as well as car AC washing and service. After that, Isnaini obtained car AC certification at the Bandung Job Training Center (Balai Latihan Kerja\/BLK). He went through this certification process for a month, and after getting certified, he finally received an offer to become an AC service trainer at Speedwork Academy. Additionally, Isnaini also had the opportunity to become an instructor for an AC washing and service training organized by YIIM together with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) in Solo, Central Java, to train children who are victims of gross human rights violations under LPSK’s protection.<\/p>\n
After successfully starting his business and deepening his knowledge of AC service, Isnaini shared his hopes: “I, praise be to God, now have comprehensive knowledge of cooling systems, not just AC, but also refrigerators, freezers, large-scale systems, and AC for vehicles like cars and buses. In the future, my dream is to build a school further away in Ternate for the community there.”<\/p>\n
