Ari Afriyadi (25 years old), or Mas Ari as he is affectionately called, is an alumnus of the social entrepreneurship barista coffee training batch 1 in 2021 organized by the Indonesian Inspiring Development Foundation (YIIM) and PT. Pertamina Training and Consulting (PTC).<\/p>\n
Currently, Mas Ari lives with his wife and two children. In his daily life, Mas Ari works at a Chinese restaurant and also sells at his own stall. Since long ago, Mas Ari wanted to learn about coffee to build his business, which had previously stalled due to the pandemic. Eventually, Mas Ari had the opportunity to participate in the training organized by YIIM. Mas Ari is very grateful for the chance to learn from theory to practice.<\/p>\n
Spirit to Revive the Business<\/p>\n
In restarting his business, Mas Ari employed various methods to build it up. To gather business capital, Mas Ari started by working as an online motorcycle taxi driver, working at a non-coffee beverage bar, and currently works at a Chinese restaurant. He continues these jobs to fulfill all his needs and complete the facilities at his stall. After the training, Mas Ari also had the opportunity to receive assistance provided by YIIM and PTC. Mas Ari used this assistance greatly to tidy up his coffee shop.<\/p>\n
Hard Work Pays Off<\/p>\n
With his enthusiasm and hard work, Mas Ari’s business finally reopened under the name \u201cTasting Coffee F&B\u201d. The shop has been open since January 15, 2022, with a gazebo concept. The shop is run daily by his wife and by Mas Ari when he is off work. The shop is located in an alley, beside Mas Ari’s residence, on empty land owned by his relative. Every day, the shop opens from 08:00 to 20:00 WIB.<\/p>\n
Mas Ari’s business is growing gradually. He started by experimenting with drink recipes, promoting his business to close friends, and marketing through social media like WhatsApp and Instagram. Additionally, Mas Ari has registered his shop on apps like GoFood and GrabFood. The various menus sold at Mas Ari’s shop include coffee and non-coffee drinks, as well as various snacks such as burgers, pasta, dim sum, grilled sausages, and grilled toast. Prices start from Rp5,000 to Rp10,000 for drinks. For food, prices range from Rp1,000 to Rp12,000. Drinks are packaged in cups sealed with a cup sealer. For beverage ingredients, Mas Ari orders from an online marketplace.<\/p>\n
The income Mas Ari received when he first opened his business was around Rp50,000 to Rp80,000 per day. He sells ten to fifteen cups of drinks per day. The profit Mas Ari earns is around Rp500,000 to Rp800,000 per month. The shop’s customers are local residents, from children to adults.<\/p>\n
With his efforts and hard work, Mas Ari’s shop finally made a comeback. Despite various obstacles in running his business, it did not make Mas Ari give up. The shop is Mas Ari’s hope to provide prosperity for his small family. To develop his business, Mas Ari will continue working until all shop facilities and coffee equipment are complete. Once everything is in place, Mas Ari will quit his job and focus on selling at his own shop.<\/p>\n
