The Indonesian Inspiring Development Foundation (YIIM), in line with its vision to become an institution that inspires the community in realizing the values of care and commitment, continues to spread benefits to others.<\/p>\n
YIIM partners with PT. Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) through a corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding scheme to assist the community with social and humanitarian issues such as poverty and disaster-related problems. This aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).<\/p>\n
Humam Hasan (42), or Humam as he is commonly called, was a former prison inmate (WBP) from the Class 1 Correctional Center (Bapas) of Central Jakarta before joining YIIM’s Barista Social Entrepreneurship Training. In 2018, Humam participated in the tiered barista entrepreneurship training, from training to internship. He underwent all stages of the process tirelessly and with high discipline. His dark past of being involved in a drug abuse case did not make Humam give up, but instead transformed him into a better person.<\/p>\n
His high enthusiasm for coffee has led Humam to be trusted as a mentor for barista training and internships, as well as for social activities conducted by YIIM and its partners. He is also trusted and recognized as a barista trainer by several state institutions, such as the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), to train survivors of terrorism crimes and victims of gross human rights violations.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Humam is also entrusted to be a barista trainer for community empowerment programs for underprivileged communities and friends with disabilities, in cooperation with the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program from PT. Pertamina Training and Consulting (PTC). He is also frequently invited by the Central Jakarta Bapas as a speaker to share his inspiring story with clients who have just completed their sentences.<\/p>\n
Humam provides training and mentoring to alumni of coffee training programs, starting from introduction to coffee-making techniques, raw materials, and tools. With a high social spirit and as a form of contribution from benefitting from the barista coffee training at YIIM with INSIGHT, Humam is determined to spread inspiration through coffee skills training. In addition to providing training, Humam also monitors and mentors training alumni who have established their barista coffee businesses. These alumni entrepreneurs come from former inmates, friends with disabilities, survivors protected by LPSK, alumni of PTC coffee training, and pre-prosperous communities affected by layoffs.<\/p>\n
In order to change his future and due to his persistence in learning, he was selected to receive a scholarship and is currently registered as a 3rd-semester student in the Faculty of Economics at Bung Karno University. Possessing a high social spirit and as a form of contribution as an alumnus of YIIM and INSIGHT’s entrepreneurship training, Humam also provides barista training to share the benefits and knowledge of barista skills with UBK students. This barista training aims to broaden the interest of the community, particularly the young generation of students, to pursue the barista profession.<\/p>\n
Humam manages Inspirasi Coffee Shop every Monday to Saturday. The long commute is not an obstacle for Humam to work and develop his coffee skills. While working as the head barista at Inspirasi Coffee, Humam also mentors YIIM’s barista alumni through a WhatsApp group and makes visits to the businesses of barista alumni who have opened coffee shops. Besides that, Humam is also diligent in pursuing his education as a student and completing exam questions given by his instructors. With all these activities, Humam achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.55.<\/p>\n
As the family breadwinner, Humam now supports his family, going from previously being unemployed to now being able to support his family’s economic needs. He has also become an inspiration cadre who contributes to the community and helps many people who have had a similar fate to him.<\/p>\n
YIIM is also very open to partnerships and donations from any party to advance underprivileged and disadvantaged communities. YIIM is committed to continuing to create entrepreneurs from its community empowerment programs.<\/p>\n
