Jakarta \u2013 As one of the concrete steps in supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in the categories of Climate Action and Economic Growth, PT Pertamina Training & Consulting (PTC) and Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) held hydroponic training for communities in the Greater Jakarta area, including those economically affected by Covid-19, groups of housewives, unemployed persons with disabilities, laid-off workers, ex-prisoners, out-of-school youth, and pre-prosperous families.<\/p>\n
Through the Social and Environmental Responsibility scheme, PT Pertamina Training & Consulting partnered with Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun to empower communities by training them to achieve family economic independence through entrepreneurship. Hydroponic training was chosen as one of the social entrepreneurship trainings, as an implementation of utilizing narrow land for urban farming and as an effort to reduce household carbon emissions and the surrounding environment.<\/p>\n
The hydroponic training began on August 27, 2021, conducted online for two days and followed by a monitoring program with a total of 17 selected participants through a series of selection processes.<\/p>\n
The online hydroponic participants received planting media equipment as a form of direct practicum and were monitored continuously until harvest time. The hydroponic plants sown were mustard greens, lettuce, kale, and spinach seeds.<\/p>\n
As the peak and closing event of the hydroponic training series, on Wednesday (13\/10), a Hydroponic Vegetable Harvest Festival was held for the training participants, centered at Sanggar Daya Kemanusiaan, Duren Sawit, which shelters pre-prosperous communities. This activity was also accompanied by a cooking training on healthy chicken noodles with preservative-free hydroponic vegetables by representatives of hydroponic training participants, guided by Sri Wahyuni as the chicken noodle culinary mentor, and continued with an evaluation of the hydroponic training by Ir. Dwi Astuti Setyaningrum as the training facilitator during the mentoring activities.<\/p>\n
The Harvest Festival was opened by Olivia Steffinda Lasut, Assistant Manager of Corporate Communication & CSR at PT Pertamina Training & Consulting. Olivia stated, \u201cThis Harvest Festival is part of the series of TJSL activities of PT Pertamina Training & Consulting, which began with hydroponic training. This is in line with community empowerment through the utilization of space for urban farming. We hope that this harvest festival, along with the organic vegetable cooking training, can foster an entrepreneurial spirit and strengthen the family economy.\u201d<\/p>\n
In this program series, PTC and YIIM have distributed hydroponic planting media installations and vegetable seeds to the assisted communities of Sanggar Daya Kemanusiaan, totaling 5 installation units. Then, in the next phase, 5 installations and seeds each will be distributed to 4 other communities: the community reading garden of Rumpin Village, Bogor; the street children community assisted by Yayasan Bina Anak Pertiwi \u2013 Pasar Minggu; Yayasan Difabel Mandiri Indonesia; and the pre-prosperous community assisted by Rumah Kreatif Generasi Masa Depan in Ciputat.<\/p>\n
Additionally, 5 installations and vegetable seeds each will be provided to 3 individual public participants outside the communities who were selected to receive assistance. Thus, there will be a total of 40 hydroponic planting media installation aids for 5 communities, which will be handed over by PTC and YIIM as infrastructure support for business capital for growing healthy vegetables. These five communities have participated in the entire series of training and practice of growing healthy hydroponic vegetables.<\/p>\n
The hydroponic training method will foster a positive and productive hobby. In the future, this hydroponic training will be implemented sustainably, with impacts that do not merely end at the planting and harvest period. Next, the formation of assisted MSMEs will begin with diversification of processed hydroponic products, including hydroponic souvenirs, targeting local markets and e-commerce. PT Pertamina Training & Consulting together with Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun will continue to monitor the development of hydroponic training in order to create an independent entrepreneurial society and strengthen the family economy.<\/p>\n
