On March 12, 2021, Fransisca Natalia, an alumna of the barista vocational training program by Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) and owner of Kedai Kopi SASCA, conducted a virtual barista entrepreneurship training for the public.<\/p>\n
This educational session exemplified the social responsibility of program alumni, who actively share the knowledge gained during the comprehensive barista training organized by YIIM and PT Insight Investments Management.<\/p>\n

This training serves as a clear illustration of Social Enterprise in practice, harmonizing commercial profit with social benefit to drive meaningful community advancement.<\/p>\n
The profit dimension has been realized by alumni who established self-sustaining coffee shops. Fransisca Natalia\u2014affectionately known as Sisca\u2014is one such alumna who built an independent coffee business. Building upon her commercial success, Sisca activated the benefit pillar by offering her professional coffee crafting knowledge pro bono through an accessible online workshop for the public.<\/p>\n
As highlighted by Dees (2001) in Akmalur Rijal et al. (2018), social entrepreneurs serve as catalysts for social change through innovation, disciplined dedication, and creativity. Similarly, J. Gregory Dees (1998), cited in Hardi Utomo (2014), posits that social entrepreneurship combines a social mission with the discipline, innovation, and business acumen characteristic of commercial enterprise.<\/p>\n
This virtual workshop was made possible through the support of YIIM and Kopi Inspirasi. Conducted via Zoom, the webinar welcomed 10 participants from varied backgrounds, including homemakers, students, and jobseekers seeking economic resilience.<\/p>\n
The initiative was organized in response to the socioeconomic strains of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. Beyond public health challenges, widespread layoffs and financial insecurity had placed significant strain on family livelihoods nationwide.<\/p>\n
The training ran for two engaging hours, from 09:00 to 11:00 AM WIB. Fransisca guided participants through the history of coffee crafting, equipment handling, manual brewing techniques, recipe formulations, and actionable blueprints for launching a small-scale coffee shop.<\/p>\n
Participants demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm during the interactive Q&A. Attendee Muhammad Adam inquired about proper milk steaming and texturing techniques for latte art. Encouraging the participants’ passion, Sisca extended an open invitation to attend practical hands-on sessions at her caf\u00e9, Kedai Kopi SASCA, situated on the Basement Floor (B1) SME area of Trans Studio Mall Cibubur.<\/p>\n
Through Sisca’s initiative, participants were equipped with technical knowledge and entrepreneurial inspiration to pursue self-reliance. This community-driven workshop directly supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 1: End Poverty in All Its Forms Everywhere.<\/p>\n
