The Inspirational Indonesia Development Foundation (YIIM), supported by its main partner PT. Insight Investment Management, is a non-profit institution that utilizes social funds and is dedicated to, among other things, education programs. YIIM collaborated with the Horas Halak Hita (H3) community to hold a Parenting Seminar in Balige, North Sumatra.<\/p>\n
Horas Halak Hita is a non-organizational community whose members are professionals from various fields, sharing a common vision in cultural development and social activities oriented toward community development, with a focus on activities in North Sumatra and its surrounding areas.<\/p>\n
Balige, as the capital of Toba Samosir Regency, is one of the areas in North Sumatra that can produce quality future generations for regional development in North Sumatra. Against this backdrop, seminars on raising children with the right values have not been widely held in Balige. The Parenting Seminar aims to educate parents and teaching staff in the Balige area on how to educate children properly.<\/p>\n
On January 30, 2021, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, YIIM again held the 4th Parenting Seminar Series online via a webinar. From March to December 2020, YIIM and H3 had conducted three series of Parenting Seminars. The 4th Parenting Seminar Series was a continuation of the material from the previous three series. This seminar raised the theme “Good Enough Parenting \u2013 How Parents Give Hope to Their Children”.<\/p>\n
The event was opened by moderator Wilson Malau, a member of the H3 committee, followed by a welcome speech from Mrs. Dewi Astari, Secretary of YIIM. After the welcome speech, the material presentation session continued with Johnson Sibuea and his wife. Johnson Sibuea is a Facilitator at Louis Counseling and Training Service Pte.Ltd. A total of 85 participants attended the webinar, consisting of teaching staff, lecturers, parents, and church administrators. During the nearly 2-hour webinar, participants were very enthusiastic and actively submitted questions to the speaker, Johnson Sibuea. Many questions were asked based on the situations faced by parents or teaching staff regarding parenting patterns, especially how to properly give hope to children. Based on the post-event feedback form, participants who attended the Parenting Seminar felt that their insight into parenting patterns had increased.<\/p>\n
Through the Parenting Seminar activities, YIIM and Horas Halak Hita support family involvement in education as an important and strategic element in supporting the implementation of education to achieve the goals of national education. This is also in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 30 of 2017 concerning Family Involvement in the Implementation of Education, which began to be applied throughout Indonesia. Education is also part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are a global action plan agreed upon by world leaders to end poverty and reduce inequality.<\/p>\n
