The Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) will initially hold social entrepreneurship training on vehicle steam washing skills in 2022. This training is in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 1 regarding eradicating poverty and number 10 ending inequality.

One of the beneficiaries is Dapik (53 years old) who is one of the alumni of the vehicle steam washing training held by YIIM together with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) in 2022.

Mr Dapik is a client of the class 1 correctional center (BAPAS) in Central Jakarta. He has four children, three of whom currently have families and one child lives independently. Now Mr. Dapik lives alone with his wife in the Kemayoran area, Jakarta. Before serving time in prison, Mr Dapik worked in the sanitation service since the 2000s.

Starting a Business After Being Released from Prison

Because he was caught in a case, Mr. Dapik served six years in prison. After being released on parole in 2022, Mr Dapik will be required to report for one year.

After Mr. Dapik was released, he had no income at all and finally had the courage to open a food business such as instant noodles, fried rice and coffee in the BAPAS canteen. While running the food business, Mr Dapik only earned a net income of around IDR 80,000. From his income, Mr. Dapik is very grateful because the results of his business can be used for daily food.

Trying New Opportunities from Taking Training

While Mr. Dapik was undergoing mandatory reporting, Mr. Dapik was invited by one of the BAPAS community counselors (PK) to take part in training held at BAPAS, and he chose to take part in vehicle steam washing training held by YIIM and INSIGHT.

“The reason I chose steam cleaning is because it’s easy, we can see what the future holds. We can start our own steam cleaning business at home or somewhere like that.” Mr Dapik said.

Finally Mr. Dapik registered and took part in vehicle steam washing training batch 1. During the training Mr. Dapik was very focused on listening to the theory and also the practice of washing vehicles using a steam tool.

“The first time I was a little confused because I had never washed using a machine. I usually just use a hose. With practice, I can do it now. After following the training, I got a lot of results, I got the knowledge.” Mr Dapik said.

Start Opening a Vehicle Steam Washing Business

After the training, BAPAS Central Jakarta received assistance in the vehicle steam equipment business provided by YIIM and INSIGHT. With the help of these tools, Mr. Dapik started his business under the name “C&K (Community and clients)”in November 2022.

The business run by Mr. Dapik coincides with his food business. He runs his business every Monday to Friday from 7 am to 4 pm. For the price of the service, a small motorbike costs IDR 15.00 and a motorbike with 150cc and above costs IDR 20,000 to IDR 25,000. The location of Mr. Dapik’s vehicle steam washing business is located in front of the Central Jakarta BAPAS canteen.

Every day Mr. Dapik washes 5-6 motorbikes. If it’s busy there can be up to 10-12 motorbikes. Mr. Dapik’s net income for steam washing vehicles every day is around IDR 100,000 and he once achieved a net income for a day of IDR 200,000.

Mr Dapik is grateful that his income has now increased. Previously Mr. Dapik only relied on income from the food business for his daily life, now Mr. Dapik’s income has increased through his vehicle steam washing business.

In the future, Mr. Dapik hopes that his business will be even busier and can open a branch for his steam washing business. Mr Dapik also expressed his gratitude to YIIM and INSIGHT.

“I would like to say a big thank you to YIIM and INSIGHT for donating steam motor equipment to the father and I can open a business using these equipment.”

Salam Inspirasi!

The Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) will first organize social entrepreneurship training on vehicle steam washing skills in 2022.

[7
985,936,8,870,50,52,58,56
136,165
["post-9008","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-impact-stories","tag-balai-pemasyarakatan","tag-balai-pemasyarakatan-bapas","tag-pemberdayaan-masyarakat","tag-pt-insight-investments-management-insight","tag-sdg01","tag-sdg08","tag-sdg10","tag-sdg17","collaborator-bapas-jakarta-pusat","collaborator-pt-insight-investments-management
