Tutik Sri Wahyuni was born on August 10, 1976, in Sukoharjo, Central Java. Now 76 years old, she lives in Rawalumbu, Bekasi, and has three children; two have graduated from university, while one is still in school. Ibu Tutik’s husband works as a concrete mixer truck driver, transporting concrete and cement for road construction, earning Rp4,000,000 per month. Her daily activities revolve around being a housewife. In between her routine household duties, she also helps her relative who owns a wedding wardrobe business called Nindya Wedding, usually assisting with dressing the bride and the wedding entourage.<\/p>\n
Interest in Culinary Food<\/p>\n
Her husband’s monthly income of four million rupiah motivated Ibu Tutik to contribute to meeting the family’s needs. She started taking orders for nasi box (rice boxes), which until now she promotes only by word of mouth. “Yes, I usually offer it and ask whether they would like to have their nasi box provided by Ibu Tutik,” she said.<\/p>\n
She learned about the frozen food training from the administrators of BKMM Kota Bekasi, who spread the information. Ibu Tutik then decided to register for the frozen food training, hoping to gain information and innovation about food menus.<\/p>\n
Training Adds Knowledge and Expands Networks<\/p>\n
Reflecting on her experience after joining the frozen food training, Ibu Tutik now understands the correct techniques for storing food so that raw materials and food remain fresh. “After joining the frozen food training, I learned what a vacuum sealer is,” she explained. Ibu Tutik also shared her opportunity and experience as a training alumna who provided meals for participants of a financial literacy training event.<\/p>\n
The committee from BKMM Kota Bekasi initially asked whether any alumna could provide catering for the event, and Ibu Tutik seized the opportunity, agreeing to provide 100 boxes of meals. On that occasion, the menu she prepared consisted of teriyaki beef with capcay, sambal, tofu perkedel, and fruit. The profit from receiving nasi box orders can range from Rp500,000 to Rp1,000,000, depending on the order. Ibu Tutik admitted that she has not yet taken a large profit, but this catering venture, which she has not yet branded, has been quite helpful in meeting the family’s needs.<\/p>\n
By participating in a series of YIIM and INSIGHT trainings, from the social entrepreneurship frozen food training, to providing catering for the cookie baking training, and getting the opportunity to attend literacy and management training, “it has added to my experience and introduced me to many new acquaintances. Alhamdulillah, from there I have received quite a lot of orders,” she said.<\/p>\n
