Fransisca Natalia Putri (39 years old) is a mother of three children. As a mother with three children still needing school fees, Fransisca Natalia Putri, or Sisca as she is commonly known, has had to work hard to support her family’s economy. Especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, her husband experienced a salary cut and the place where Sisca used to sell was closed.<\/p>\n
Fransisca is one of many barista training alumni who succeeded in starting a business amid the Covid-19 pandemic after previously participating in training, internships, and entrepreneurship class mentoring organized by the Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) in collaboration with PT. Insight Investments Management (PT. IIM).<\/p>\n
Before joining the entrepreneurship training, Sisca, her familiar nickname, tried to seize every opportunity available, including selling toys, snacks, and other items to support her family’s economy.<\/p>\n
Before Covid-19, Sisca’s average income was approximately IDR 2,000,000 to IDR 3,000,000 per month from selling various snacks door-to-door. However, after Covid-19, her income dropped drastically to between IDR 800,000 and IDR 1,000,000 per month.<\/p>\n
During Covid-19, Sisca kept trying to find alternatives to support her family’s daily needs and help lighten her husband’s burden. In the midst of despair, Sisca received a WhatsApp group broadcast about the training held by YIIM and PT. Insight Investments Management. Armed with the desire to gain knowledge and change her fate for the sake of her family, Sisca began participating in barista training and interning every day for two months at Kopi Inspirasi at the YIIM office.<\/p>\n
During the training and internship at Kopi Inspirasi, Sisca followed the instructions and input provided by the trainers and mentors. After completing the internship, Sisca dared to start her own business and submitted an application for assistance, and was selected as a recipient of YIIM’s business assistance program.<\/p>\n
On 19 November 2020, Sisca officially opened her own coffee shop, “Kedai Kopi Sasca”. According to Ms. Sisca, the turnover on the first day was very satisfying, reaching IDR 413,600. Her coffee business operates at the UMKM outlet in Depok, located in Trans Studio Mall Cibubur.<\/p>\n
While running the shop and occasionally being helped by her children, Sisca uses the revenue she earns to purchase additional equipment and support her family’s daily life.<\/p>\n
Several times, customers asked about menu items that Sisca could not yet prepare. However, seeing the economic opportunity, Sisca continued learning to make coffee with her former mentors and other training alumni, and purchased additional equipment. “As long as there is something to try, why not?” she concluded.<\/p>\n
With a monthly turnover of around IDR 2,000,000 (two million) to IDR 5,000,000 (five million), Sisca dreams of opening a coffee shop outside a shopping center.<\/p>\n
Her experience trying many things before opening the coffee shop has given Sisca some understanding of how to sell, set prices, and attract loyal customers. Now, friends can visit Kedai Kopi Sasca at the Basement Floor, UMKM Outlet, Trans Studio Mall Cibubur.<\/p>\n
