Inspirasi Bridge Improves Market Access for Farmers in Taji Village
A permanent bridge now gives coffee farmers and neighboring communities safer, more reliable access for farming, transporting harvests, and travelling between Taji and Pandangsari Lor villages.

On Thursday, 5 January 2023, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), supported by PT Insight Investments Management, inaugurated Jembatan Inspirasi, a permanent bridge for coffee growers and other farmers in Kartika II Farmers Group. The bridge is located in Krajan Hamlet, Taji Village, Jabung District, Malang Regency, East Java, on the slopes of Mount Bromo.
Kartika II brings together dozens of farmers producing coffee, vegetables, fruit, cloves, and other crops. During a needs assessment in July 2022, farmers told YIIM that their fragile bridge disrupted agricultural activity.
The earlier structure was made from bamboo and wood and had to be rebuilt collectively almost every year after decay and flooding. When it failed, farmers could not transport harvests. The route was also the main connection between Taji and Pandangsari Lor villages.
The inauguration was attended by Chrisbiantoro, Chair of YIIM, together with YIIM staff; Ngaturi, Chair of Kartika II; Sugeng Santoso, representing Taji Village Government; Sergeant Major Heri Purnomo, local Babinsa head; and approximately 30 farmers. Traditional thanksgiving included a ceremonial clay-jug breaking, gamelan music, and jaranan kepang.
Chrisbiantoro said the permanent bridge realized a plan discussed in 2022 and would help farmers become more productive without recurring disruption from a decayed or flood-damaged structure.
Isnaeni Setiawan, Insight’s CSR Coordinator, explained that the company’s Transforming Investments to Social Impact principle connects investment with benefits for communities and the environment. He described the bridge as support for farmers’ livelihoods.
Ngaturi thanked YIIM and Insight, saying the new bridge made travel easier and restored the connection between Taji and Pandangsari Lor. The project contributes to SDG 1, SDG 9, SDG 10, and SDG 17.
Salam Inspirasi!
