Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) collaborated with Yayasan Baitulmaal Muamalat, with support from PT Insight Investments Management, to construct a borewell and sanitation facilities at Miftahul Ibtida Islamic Boarding School in Mekar Baru Village, Kopo District, Serang Regency, Banten.

The school frequently experienced water shortages during the dry season and did not have an independent clean-water source. Sixty students lived at the boarding school, while dozens of others travelled from home, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to approximately 100. This population created substantial daily demand for water.

Construction began on 12 November 2024 and was completed on 19 December 2024. The partners provided a borewell system with a water-storage tank, a supporting tower, and a water pump. The project also included a five-by-three-meter bathing, washing, and toilet facility and an ablution area equipped with three taps.

The new infrastructure was designed to provide a more reliable water supply for resident and commuting students while also benefiting other members of the community around the boarding school.

Management of Miftahul Ibtida assumed responsibility for maintaining the borewell, pump equipment, and electricity supply. This local responsibility was intended to keep the system functioning over the long term.

The project supported national human-development priorities because access to clean water and adequate sanitation is a key determinant of health. It also formed part of YIIM’s Social, Humanitarian, and Religious program and Insight’s social responsibility commitment.

The initiative contributes to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and helps address recurring water scarcity through practical community infrastructure.
