Entrepreneurship and Family Finance Training Supports Carenang Microenterprises
Forty-five women and local business actors strengthened their skills in household budgeting, saving, investing, business bookkeeping, pricing, and microenterprise taxation.
On Monday, 19 June 2023, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), supported by PT Insight Investments Management, collaborated with Dharma Wanita Persatuan Kecamatan Carenang to organize entrepreneurship management and family financial-planning training under the theme The Spirit of Economic and Entrepreneurial Empowerment for the Carenang Community.
The program reflected Insight’s corporate social and environmental responsibility commitment to transforming investment into positive social impact, alongside YIIM’s mission to inspire constructive action for Indonesia’s development. The source identifies its contribution to SDG 2: Zero Hunger and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
The training was held from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Carenang District Office Hall in Panenjoan Village, Serang Regency, Banten. It was attended by 45 participants, including spouses of civil servants and local microenterprise practitioners.
Key figures attending the event included Arif Roikhan, Head of Carenang District; Alvinna Amir, Chair of Dharma Wanita Persatuan Kecamatan Carenang; Riccana Rosita, Treasurer of YIIM; Herlanda Putra, YIIM Finance Staff; Isnaeni Setiawan, CSR Coordinator at Insight; and Alifah Ghina Maharani, Deputy Head of Retail Sales at Insight.
Arif Roikhan opened the event by thanking the organizations that made the training possible. He encouraged residents to make full use of the opportunity and noted that the activity supported Dharma Wanita’s economic mission. Alvinna Amir similarly encouraged participants to apply the lessons to entrepreneurship and expressed hope for continued training support in Carenang.
Isnaeni Setiawan explained that Insight, established in 2003, uses its Transforming Investments to Social Impact approach to connect investment products with corporate social responsibility funding. He said the Carenang empowerment program was made possible through investors who wanted their investments to generate social benefits.
Alifah Ghina Maharani delivered the first learning session on saving and investment. Participants explored sound financial planning, the risks of holding all savings in cash, different forms of investment, and common examples of poor or fraudulent investment decisions.
The second session was delivered by Riccana Rosita and Herlanda Putra. It covered financial management for micro, small, and medium enterprises, the criteria for microenterprise taxation, calculation of cost of goods sold, separation of household and business money, and disciplined recording of income and expenditure. Participants were also introduced to applications that could support business bookkeeping.
An active discussion followed. Participants asked about limits when lending money and ways to confirm whether an investment was registered with Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority. Enok Sadiyah, a local microenterprise owner, also sought advice on reducing operating costs and increasing profit to develop her business.
The training was expected to strengthen family income, improve household and business financial decisions, and enable participants to share useful knowledge with the wider community.
