The Indonesia Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) distributed basic food aid to 150 indigenous Papuan mothers in Jayawijaya Regency.

The distribution of aid from YIIM was in collaboration with the Papuan Justice and Human Integrity Foundation and was carried out on Wednesday (21/10/2020) centered on Jalan Irian Wamena, precisely behind Wamena State High School.

Executive Director of the Papuan Justice and Human Integrity Foundation (World Human Rights Defenders), Theo Hesegem, said that the assistance provided by YIIM to especially indigenous Papuans is a good and useful activity.

The assistance provided by YIIM and distributed by the Papuan Justice and Human Integrity Foundation (World Human Rights Defenders) is more specifically aimed at indigenous Papuans, in this case female traders, as well as to people who are really in difficult situations.

The focus of the distribution itself, explained Theo, was that all aid was distributed to mothers who were street vendors who had been selling on the streets, including widowed mothers and also to mothers who did not receive assistance.

“As the Executive Director of the Papuan Justice and Human Integrity Foundation (World Human Rights Defenders), I would like to express my gratitude to YIIM because they have provided assistance to the Papuan people who are in difficulty,” said Theo Hesegem.

According to Theo, the collaboration carried out by YIIM with the Papuan Foundation for Justice and Human Integrity (World Human Rights Defenders) is a good thing and should be emulated.

The hope is that the current collaboration can continue and be sustainable, especially amidst the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus.

According to Theo, the assistance provided by YIIM is a form of YIIM Foundation’s concern for the Papuan people who are really experiencing difficulties amidst the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus, especially in Jayawijaya Regency.

Theo said that the assistance provided to 150 mothers of street vendors (PKL) in Wamena, not only mothers from Jayawijaya, but there were also recipients of aid from other districts, such as Tolikara, Nduga, Yahukimo, Lanny Jaya.

“This concerns the trust given to me by YIIM, so my assistance must be distributed to the beneficiaries,” said Theo Hesegem.

Theo said, the types of goods distributed to 150 mothers included Supermi, cooking oil, rice, sardines, soy sauce, milk and eggs.

Theo added that the assistance provided was a form of concern, so that the beneficiaries, Theo hoped that it could be used as well as possible for their daily needs.
