On Friday, 28 July 2023, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) and PT Insight Investments Management held entrepreneurship management training from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Pondok Bambu Class I State Detention Centre on Jalan Pahlawan Revolusi No. 38, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.

The session was attended by 29 women residing at the detention centre and was moderated by YIIM staff member Romadhona Putri Wulandari. It formed the final learning activity in a wider social-enterprise training series.

Riccana Rosita, Treasurer of YIIM, delivered the first module on simple bookkeeping for micro, small, and medium enterprises. Participants learned to calculate cost of goods sold and manage business finances so that income, expenditure, pricing, and profit could be recorded more systematically.

Muhammad Rajib Rakatirta, Marketing Communication Officer at Insight, delivered the second module on business innovation and offline and digital marketing strategies. The material introduced basic marketing principles and practical ways to reach customers through both conventional and online channels.

After the training, YIIM and Insight formally closed the social-enterprise program at Pondok Bambu. The closing was attended by Kuswanto, Head of Management at the detention centre; Isnaeni Setiawan, CSR Coordinator at Insight; and Chrisbiantoro, Chair of YIIM.

Kuswanto thanked YIIM and Insight for consistently providing relevant training. He praised the participants’ serious engagement in cooking, sewing, salon, and other courses, and expressed hope that the skills would become useful preparation for life outside the detention centre and that similar training could continue.

Isnaeni Setiawan said Insight hoped the program could be sustained through its corporate social responsibility allocation. He noted that Insight and YIIM would evaluate the completed activities to identify which approaches had worked well and should be continued.

Chrisbiantoro congratulated the participants and encouraged them to keep developing their knowledge through practice. He reminded those still completing their rehabilitation not to lose confidence, but to use their time productively and later apply their skills for the benefit of themselves, their families, and the wider community.

The program supports government efforts to create productive detention centres that provide residents with practical skills. It aims to inspire broader involvement in social and economic empowerment and improve participants’ prospects for successful reintegration.

The activity contributes to SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
