To mark Indonesia’s National Children’s Day 2024, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), supported by PT Insight Investments Management, delivered education assistance for children and families in Cilograng Village, Cilograng District, Lebak Regency, Banten.

National Children’s Day promotes every child’s right to live, grow, develop, participate with dignity, and receive protection from violence and discrimination. The 2024 theme, Protected Children, Advanced Indonesia, reflected the continuing commitment to safeguard children’s rights and enable them to contribute to the country’s future.

YIIM and Insight worked with Yayasan Antara Cipta Karsa, also known as Yayasan Naratas, through its Gerakan Muda Cendikia unit to implement Garda Bersama Desa from 13 to 20 July 2024.

A needs assessment found that children faced barriers to education linked to household economics, the surrounding environment, and low parental awareness of education’s importance. Unrestricted exposure to harmful internet content created an additional risk for young people.

The program responded with Cendikia learning classes, a community reading garden and management training, an internet-safety workshop for teenagers, and a donation of books for the reading facility.

These activities expanded learning access and helped parents understand the importance of education for their children’s future. They also created safer opportunities for teenagers to engage with digital information and gave the village resources that could continue to support learning after the program ended.

The initiative formed part of YIIM’s Education pathway and Insight’s corporate social and environmental responsibility commitment. It contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
