Villages play a central role in Indonesia’s national development and provide an important foundation for sustainable prosperity. Girimukti Village in Cilograng District, Lebak Regency, has significant natural resources and human potential, but much of it has not yet been fully developed.

Residents face barriers to education, healthcare, information, and technology because the village is far from urban centers and has limited infrastructure, including damaged roads and no internet access. Other challenges include school dropout, the absence of a community learning center, low motivation to study, and limited parental awareness of the importance of education.

The community also has limited knowledge of how agricultural resources can be developed into higher-value products. Waste disposal in rivers and behind homes has created environmental, health, and social concerns.

In response, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) and PT Insight Investment Management worked with Yayasan Antara Cipta Karsa, also known as Yayasan Naratas, and its Gerakan Muda Cendikia unit to implement Garda Bersama Desa Batch 5.

The program ran from 20 July to 4 August 2025 and reached primary, junior-secondary, and senior-secondary students, young people, farmers, homemakers, local women’s groups, and other residents of Girimukti Village.

Activities included learning support, literacy workshops, development of a community reading space, village entrepreneurship training, local-product processing, sustainable-agriculture education, accessible modern farming techniques, food-crop diversification, and education on Clean and Healthy Living Practices.

Approximately 300 people benefited directly, while an estimated 3,000 community members received indirect benefits. The program aimed to improve education and literacy, build awareness of local economic opportunities, strengthen entrepreneurship and product-development skills, support innovative farming, increase agricultural productivity, and promote cleaner and healthier living.

Garda Bersama Desa Batch 5 formed part of YIIM’s Community Empowerment, Education, and Social Humanitarian programs and represented PT Insight Investment Management’s corporate social responsibility commitment.

The initiative contributed to SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.
