Y4CA Youth and Partners Plant 800 Trees for a Greener Semarang
YIIM, Insight Investments Management, and LindungiHutan planted 800 avocado trees in Jabungan, combining youth climate action with soil protection, jobs, and long-term income opportunities for farmers.

As a continuation of Youth for Climate Action Batch 2, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), PT Insight Investments Management, and LindungiHutan planted 800 avocado trees on 20 August 2025 in Jabungan, Banyumanik, Semarang.
Under the theme “Empowering Youth, Greening the Future,” Y4CA combined dialogue and education with direct climate action. Young participants and partner organizations moved from discussing environmental challenges to implementing a measurable local response.
The 800 newly planted trees were estimated to absorb six kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent at their initial age. Avocado trees were selected for both ecological and economic value: they absorb carbon, help stabilize soil and reduce landslide risk, and can provide future income through fruit harvests.
The program is expected to raise participating farmers’ income by up to 23%, create employment, and deliver indirect environmental benefits to approximately 142,303 residents around Jabungan. It demonstrates how climate action can support both ecosystems and local livelihoods.
The initiative contributes to SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through livelihood opportunities, SDG 13: Climate Action through carbon absorption, and SDG 15: Life on Land through tree planting and soil protection.
Salam Inspirasi!
