Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), through its Social, Humanitarian, and Religious program supported by PT Insight Investments Management, constructed a clean-water borewell for Riyadhul Huffadz Islamic Boarding School in Sopa Village, Kindang District, Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi.

The area experienced serious water shortages during the dry season. Local springs could dry up, leaving students, teachers, and surrounding residents struggling to obtain enough clean water for everyday needs.

Construction began on 5 March 2024 and was completed on 20 March 2024. The project provided a borewell drilled to a depth of 40 meters and a storage tank with a capacity of 5,000 litres.

Before the assistance, the boarding-school community faced recurring difficulty accessing water, particularly during prolonged dry conditions. The completed system created a dependable supply for daily use and improved water availability for both the school and nearby residents.

The boarding-school management assumed responsibility for maintaining the well, pump, and electricity supply. This local arrangement was intended to keep the infrastructure operating sustainably and ensure that its benefits continued beyond the construction period.

The program supported a national priority to strengthen human development because clean water and adequate sanitation are fundamental determinants of health and well-being. It also demonstrated how targeted infrastructure can improve resilience in a community vulnerable to seasonal drought.

The initiative contributes to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
