Quran teacher certification training at SMPIT Al-Huda on Sebatik Island

On 4 August 2023, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) and Kauny Quran Academy initiated a Quran teacher certification and standardization program using the Kauny memorization method. The program was supported by PT Insight Investments Management through its corporate social responsibility approach, Transforming Investments into Social Impact.

The face-to-face training was held on 26 and 27 August 2023 in the hall of SMPIT Al-Huda, Jalan Jenderal Ahmad Yani, Tanjung Harapan, East Sebatik, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan. Thirty Quran teachers attended from Islamic schools, kindergartens, Quran learning centres, and women’s study groups in Indonesia’s border region.

Ustad Asep Suryana from Kauny Quran Academy guided participants through the Kauny method. He said the teachers responded well and quickly demonstrated their progress by memorizing verses 1 to 16 of Surah Ar-Rahman. The training team planned periodic online sessions through Zoom so that participants could continue strengthening their skills after the in-person course.

Chrisbiantoro, Chair of YIIM, said the program reflected the commitment of YIIM and Insight to improve educational quality and create positive social impact. He hoped the trained teachers would apply and share the method with students and learning communities across the border area.

Burhanuddin, Chair of Yayasan Al-Huda, thanked YIIM, Insight, and Kauny Quran Academy for bringing the training to Sebatik. He said participants were highly enthusiastic and, within only a few hours, had also shown that they could memorize Surah Nuh using the approach introduced during the program.

Kauny Quran Academy, YIIM, and Insight committed to follow-up mentoring through periodic Zoom meetings. This continuing support was intended to help the 30 teachers maintain consistent practice and extend the benefits to the children and communities they serve.

The collaboration contributes to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by connecting nonprofit, educational, and investment-sector partners to strengthen Quran education in a remote border community.

Salam Inspirasi!
