Environmental preservation and community economic empowerment are closely connected. Developing productive agroforestry initiatives can restore degraded ecosystems while simultaneously creating viable income sources for local residents and plantation workers.

To advance these combined goals, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) conducted a handover program delivering 500 premium avocado seedlings in Rajamandala, West Java. The initiative was developed in partnership with PT Perkebunan Nusantara VIII (PTPN VIII) to establish a central mother nursery garden and promote sustainable fruit cultivation.

The program serves a dual purpose. First, it strengthens the economic welfare of PTPN VIII employees and nearby village communities by equipping them with high-yield horticultural assets that can produce sustainable fruit harvests and propagation opportunities over the long term.

Second, the tree planting directly supports the ecological rehabilitation of the Citarum River watershed under the national Citarum Harum restoration program. Planting deep-rooted perennial fruit trees along the watershed helps improve soil stability, prevent erosion, and promote sustainable water catchment management.

Through this initiative, YIIM hopes to encourage broader cross-sector collaboration in advancing ecological restoration alongside community-driven economic empowerment across the Citarum River basin.

This initiative aligns with SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 13: Climate Action, SDG 15: Life on Land, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
