The Indonesia Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Pertamina Training and Consulting are always committed to supporting strengthening community independence through a series of inclusive and sustainable empowerment initiatives.

, JAKARTA — Equal is a very meaningful meaning for friends who have special limitations. Despite the shortcomings they have, there is great hope to obtain equal rights in education, employment and economic independence.

This is the fundamental vision and mission for PT Pertamina Training and Consulting (PTC) through its social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) program to embrace inclusion to foster the spirit of friends with disabilities to become stronger and more competitive.

Through the disabled coffee barista training program, PT Pertamina Training and Consulting collaborates with the Indonesia Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) to provide applicable insights that can be continued as a sustainable business for friends with disabilities.

Teuku Mirasfi as President Director of PTC in his press release, Monday (26/9/2022), said that the high enthusiasm of friends with disabilities was a light for PTC to continue to be committed to carrying out TJSL activities that embrace inclusiveness.

Since 2017, he said, PTC through the TJSL program has paid attention to disability inclusion groups with various category backgrounds such as autistic, deaf and quadriplegic.

Coffee barista training for people with disabilities is the second year for PTC to continue the spirit of empowerment. This training activity was carried out on 19-21 September 2022, online and offline with a selection system to select business assistance beneficiaries.

A total of 38 friends with disabilities were selected from the blind, low vision, deaf and quadriplegic categories to take part in online training and 20 people were selected through a written selection and interview system to take part in direct training at Ko+labora Flexispace, Taman Sari, West Jakarta.

Of the total participants, 10 participants were deaf and 9 participants were deaf and 1 participant was blind with low vision. The blind friends were assisted by two interpreters from JBI in listening to the material.

The training was guided by trainer and coffee practitioner Humam Hasan as the Head Barista of Kopi Inspirasi, Fransisca Nathalia as the barista and owner of the Sasca Coffee Shop business, and also assisted by 1 assistant trainer, namely Aries Adryanto, who is an alumni of the 2021 batch of PTC disabled friends’ barista training and is currently starting the Warkop Uhuyy business.

The material taught in the training includes an introduction to barista tools and making espresso menus, practice using manual coffee equipment and making manual brew menus such as V60, Vietnamese drip, aero press and French press.

As well as basic menus such as americano, long black, coffee latte and modern coffee milk. Apart from applicable training, participants were also taught how to calculate coffee business capital.

Teuku Mirasfi who gave a warm and enthusiastic welcome to friends with disabilities.

“This training is a starting point for friends to be able to become independent and can develop their friends’ capacities to become stronger. There is already an example, one of the previous year’s alumni, Mas Aries, has been promoted to assistant trainer for this training. We will monitor and help so that the participants can be independent through coffee entrepreneurship,” said Teuku Mirasfi.

Creating MSME Trainers

In line with the experience of Aries Andriyanto who has been an assistant trainer in this year’s disabled coffee barista training, PTC also provides a special forum for assisted MSMEs who have special potential to provide their knowledge and experience to the wider community.

This, said Tekuku Mirasfi, was based on the progress graph of previous year’s alumni, who had quite a lot of opportunities to share knowledge at various regional and international scale events.

A total of 19 participants in the Training of Trainers (ToT) are alumni who have started coffee shop businesses, frozen food culinary and hydroponic vegetables spread across the Jabodetabek area. ToT activities were carried out on 15-16 September 2022 at Wisma Hijau Depok, West Java.

The participants were specifically provided with materials on techniques for preparing materials and presentations, techniques for being a facilitator, business innovation and digital marketing, socialization of the Jakpreneur Program from the South Jakarta City Government’s Child Protection and Repatriation Empowerment Service (PPAPP), bookkeeping for MSME entrepreneurs, managing the legality of MSMEs, and legal protection for MSME activists.

This program is part of PT Pertamina Training and Consulting’s TJSL activities and has received a 4 star award in the economic category at the TJSL and CSR Awards.

Collaborating with the Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) in providing a variety of needed training and networking with communities from various backgrounds, PT Pertamina Training and Consulting is strongly committed to creating sustainability in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals in improving economic quality and creating decent jobs as part of the no one left behind vision.
