The Indonesia Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Pertamina Training and Consulting are always committed to supporting strengthening community independence through a series of inclusive and sustainable empowerment initiatives.

PT Pertamina Training and Consulting (PTC) collaborates with the Indonesian Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) to train advanced coffee brewers (baristas) to grow Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Jakarta and its surroundings.

PTC Assistant Manager for Corporate Communication & CSR, Olivia Steffina Lasut, in a written statement in Jakarta, Monday, said that the activity to grow MSMEs was entering its second year of implementation.

“Previous year there were 30 new entrepreneurs from various training fields such as coffee baristas, frozen food and hydroponics,” said Olivia.

However, this year’s training focused on advanced coffee barista training by inviting 18 alumni who previously took part in training to improve their coffee mixing skills.

Olivia stated that PTC is committed to empowering the community through corporate social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) programs by increasing the community’s potential to be active and competitive.

The training will be carried out offline and online with discussion material and skills deepening starting at the end of August 2022.

“This barista training is training that is sought after because coffee is now a lifestyle for Indonesian people who like to consume coffee, so it is an opportunity for friends to study hard and practice optimally,” said Olivia.

After attending the training, the participants undergo a selection method to get the best candidates as beneficiaries through pre- and post-tests as well as comprehensive evaluations from the trainers.

After passing the selection stage, eight alumni will be selected to then be given offline training at Kedai Kopi Inspirasi, South Jakarta.

In practice, participants are given an understanding and procedures for using manual and machine coffee equipment, explained about the origin and types of coffee found in Indonesia, as well as directly making “latte art”.

For offline training activities, participants also receive coffee shop management training including calculations for starting a business and determining the cost of product sales. Next are sales and promotion strategies, selecting the right raw materials, and standard operating procedures for coffee shops.

Olivia hopes that the advanced coffee barista training can provide benefits as part of efforts to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and foster enthusiasm for recovering faster and rising stronger.
