The Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) (INSIGHT) are always committed to supporting the strengthening of community independence through a series of inclusive and sustainable empowerment initiatives.

Chairman of the Management of the Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) Chrisbiantoro assessed that the economy in Indonesia would grow if the country was peaceful and human rights (HAM) were respected, protected and promoted.

“YIIM believes that sustainable development goals will be achieved and the economy can grow if the country is peaceful and human rights are respected, protected and promoted as implied and written in the spirit of Sustainable Development Goal Number 16,” he said in a written statement in Jakarta, Tuesday.

This was conveyed by Chrisbiantoro in a webinar with the theme “Supporting the Government to Realize the Promotion, Protection and Fulfillment of Human Rights”.

This webinar is one of the events commemorating International Human Rights Day held by YIIM together with the May 18 Memorial Foundation from 10 to 15 December 2020.

May 18 Memorial Foundation from South Korea is an independent foundation that is concerned with empowering disadvantaged communities and promoting peace and strengthening democracy and human rights in Asia.

The webinar forum was attended by 50 people from various backgrounds, including YIIM beneficiaries, students and social activists.

Present as resource persons were the Director of Education and Religion of Bappenas RI Amich Alhumami, members of the Aceh Truth and Reconciliation Commission Muhamad Daud, Chrisbiantoro, and YIIM entrepreneurial economic empowerment alumnus Wanma Yetty.

These speakers support the government so that development and economic equality go hand in hand with human rights so that a peaceful and just Indonesia can be realized, especially related to development and economic growth.

This is as mandated in the Sustainable Development Goals in Presidential Regulation Number 59 of 2015.

May 18 Memorial Foundation representative Yoojung Hong hopes that development will always support strengthening democracy and human rights.

Meanwhile, Amich said that Bappenas plays an important role in development in Indonesia and is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Even though the SDGs themselves are very broad, according to him, alleviating people from poverty, preventing hunger, and others must be priority programs.

Amich also explained several local creativity, such as jungle schools and various local initiatives that should be supported to realize the SDGs so that no one is left behind.

Still related to Human Rights Day, then YIIM and main partner PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) held several series of social services distributing basic food packages in several areas, including 100 packages for the people of Gorontalo.

Next, 100 basic food packages for the people of Oemasi Village, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). This activity will continue with the assistance of 100 basic food packages each for the people of Karawang and the people of Subang, West Java.

YIIM and PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) also handed over 100 personal protective equipment and changes of clothing to medical personnel at the Kemayoran Athlete House, Jakarta.

The basic food packages consist of rice, sugar, oil, tea, eggs, instant noodles, vitamins and masks, as well as assistance for the needs of several less fortunate toddlers in Oemasi Village, Kupang Regency.

This assistance is provided to ease the burden on communities affected by COVID-19 so that they have secure food reserves and vitamin needs.

“The series of social activities held by YIIM and PT Insight is part of a series of previous activities entitled Social Assistance for the Entire Archipelago. Hopefully people affected by COVID-19 can be helped,” said PT Insight representative Dwi Laksmi Anggita Sari.

Through this synergy and initiative, the Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) hopes that the programs implemented can provide real benefits, open up wider opportunities for independence for participants, and actively contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
