The Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) together with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) (LPSK) are always committed to supporting the strengthening of community independence through a series of inclusive and sustainable empowerment initiatives.

A total of 22 victims of criminal acts of terrorism in Bali received psychosocial training, Wednesday (25/11/2020) at 09.30 WITA at the Bali Province Governor’s Office, Jalan Basuki Rahmat Number 1, Denpasar City. Training as a recovery step so that victims become economically empowered again.

1. Makeup and Culinary Skills were chosen because the market share in Bali has never decreased

Assistant for Government and People’s Welfare at the Regional Secretariat of Bali Province, I Gede Indra Dewa Putra, conveyed that the training material for Cosmetology and Culinary skills was chosen because its market share in Bali has never decreased. Especially when the mating season arrives.

“In my opinion, it is impossible for the market share to decline. I think in Bali, these two skills are really needed and have good prospects. People need an OK appearance, a clingy one, a neat one, right,” he explained.

Likewise for culinary delights, the potential is very good considering that Bali is a tourist destination.

2. A total of 352 crime victims received psychosocial services

The Workshop on Economic Empowerment of Victims by Providing Cosmetology and Culinary Skills was held by the Victim Witness Protection Institute (LPSK) in collaboration with the Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM). Chairman of LPSK, Dr Hasto Atmojo Suroyo, said that during the 2019-2020 period there were 352 victims of criminal acts who had received psychosocial services.

The largest number are victims of criminal acts of terrorism, sexual crimes, domestic violence (KDRT) originating from Bali Province.

“For example, psychosocial means that if there is a victim of a crime, the head of the family dies. Of course there will be an economic shock for this victim’s family. Yes, LPSK helps facilitate this victim, this victim’s family can continue to survive by contacting the regional government. By seeking efforts from the ministry, by seeking efforts from philanthropic institutions to enable this family to survive,” he explained.

3. The victims will receive compensation from the State as business capital

Apart from training, the government will provide compensation to victims as business capital.

“Yes, later some of them will receive compensation from the state. Hopefully this can be used by them as business capital for the skills they have acquired,” said Hasto.

If they still need other forms of recovery efforts, LPSK will discuss it with various parties who can help.

According to Hasto, the socio-economic background of the victims of this criminal act is mostly from economically weak groups. They are mostly self-employed.

Through this synergy and initiative, the Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) hopes that the programs implemented can provide real benefits, open up wider opportunities for independence for participants, and actively contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
