The Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) together with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) (LPSK) are always committed to supporting the strengthening of community independence through a series of inclusive and sustainable empowerment initiatives.

The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) in collaboration with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) (LPSK), always carries out various efforts to assist and provide assistance to witnesses and victims of criminal acts of terrorism. This is one of the concrete efforts of the government and all stakeholders to provide support to survivors of terrorism.

BNPT and LPSK realized this effort by holding Self Love Training and Social Entrepreneurship Training Orientation for terrorism survivors in Bali, Wednesday (13/10/2021). This training was attended by around 90 participants consisting of 50 offline and 40 online, who came from Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya, East Java and Central Sulawesi. This training is supported by the Indonesian Building Inspiration Foundation, Peach Generation Indonesia, and UNODC.

Head of BNPT, Komjen Pol Boy Rafli Amar, said that support for this training is a form of BNPT’s presence by providing physical, psychological, social and financial strengthening to survivors. The hope is that survivors can recover from the grief of the past and plan for a better future, even meeting their needs during emergencies such as the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Today’s implementation is a form of social rehabilitation assistance, independence in economic activities to restore the social condition of the victims, so that they are able to carry out their social functions again normally. This program is aimed at providing strengthening, empowerment and recovery to the victims so that they have work skills and are able to open entrepreneurship in the community, this is a concrete form of our concern for the survivors,” said Boy.

BNPT has also formed a Survivors’ Friendship Forum (Forsitas) which aims to increase collaboration and communication between victims of terrorism and to strengthen each other. BNPT has held several meetings as a follow-up to Forsitas and hopes that this forum will become a forum for all terrorism survivors to exchange information and strengthen collaboration with all stakeholders.

Boy hopes that this activity can strengthen joint efforts in supporting terrorism survivors, including ensuring the fulfillment of the rights of assistance providers and access to justice.

Through this synergy and initiative, the Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) hopes that the programs implemented can provide real benefits, open up wider opportunities for independence for participants, and actively contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
