The Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) are again distributing basic food aid and agricultural equipment to communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in several areas.

“We are trying our best to continue to contribute to easing the burden on communities affected by COVID-19 throughout the archipelago, hopefully our contribution is useful and we are all given health to get through this pandemic,” said YIIM Chairman Chrisbiantoro in a written statement received in Jakarta, Tuesday.

The agricultural equipment assistance provided included hoes, sickles and pest spray equipment for 100 small farmers in East Lampung and 100 small farmers in Wonogiri, Central Java.

Not only that, throughout October to November 2020, the foundation together with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) also distributed aid to 100 independence fighter veterans in South Tangerang and Tangerang City, Banten province.

“We also handed over 150 basic food packages to underprivileged communities in Lembata and Ende Regencies in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara,” he said.

Apart from providing social assistance for farmers and veteran fighters, the two agencies also held a collaborative webinar between YIIM and the Aceh Truth and Reconciliation Commission (KKR).

The webinar is also supported by the international organization May 18 Memorial Foundation which is based in South Korea. May 18 Foundation collaborates with YIIM to encourage strengthening the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 16 in Indonesia.

YIIM, he said, is collaborating with the Aceh KKR because this institution represents a country that was born with the aim of recovering and strengthening Aceh to face a better future.

The TRC has worked for three years and produced many policies and recommendations for the future of human rights in Aceh, including for survivors in particular.

“We also distributed 150 basic food packages to survivors under the auspices of the Aceh KKR with details of basic necessities, eggs, masks and vitamins,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chair of the Aceh KKR Afridal Darmi said the role of civil society is important in encouraging the implementation of SDGs point 16, especially to promote a peaceful and inclusive society and sustainable development.

“Hopefully this discussion will bring benefits to the survivors and this cooperation will strengthen the KKR institution as the state’s representative for the protection of human rights,” he said.

Through this synergy and initiative, the Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) hopes that the programs implemented can provide real benefits, open up wider opportunities for independence for participants, and actively contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
