The Indonesia Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) distributed a number of aid packages for basic materials and tools to prevent transmission of the COVID-19 virus to residents affected by the pandemic.

Chairman of the Board, Chrisbiantoro, in Jakarta, Sunday, said that the assistance was aimed at several beneficiary groups in the form of 150 basic food packages containing oil, sugar, rice, instant noodles, vitamin C and other basic necessities given to informal workers.

“Informal workers such as motorcycle taxi drivers, casual workers and street vendors in the areas of Jatiwaringin, Jatiasih and Babelan (Bekasi), Cempaka Putih (Central Jakarta), Ciputat (South Tangerang), and Beji, Sawangan and Ratujaya (Depok),” he said.

The Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) for Development, as a non-profit organization engaged in social and humanitarian activities, is contributing by working together to distribute aid related to overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic.

This institution has started distribution from April 14 and is planned until April 25 2020. YIIM together with main partner PT. Insight Investments Management wants to ease the burden on affected communities and synergize with the government in implementing Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) to stop the transmission of the virus.

Previously on April 23 2020, YIIM through Posyandu Kencana I in Petogogan Village, South Jakarta, distributed aid to a toddler named Kafi, in the form of an NGT tube for feeding aids, digital thermometers, injection equipment and medicine, pampers (baby diapers), milk and basic food packages for his parents who work as motorbike taxi drivers.

YIIM also distributed cloth masks which were distributed at several points throughout the DKI Jakarta area. Apart from that, cloth masks were also sent to Pondok Wetan, Yogyakarta, in total no less than 3,000 cloth masks were handed over to the public.

Then, YIIM also provided assistance to South Jakarta PMI officers and volunteers in the form of 12 dozen cloth masks and 100 spare change t-shirts ordered from MSME screen printers with the words “Maintain Body Distance, Strengthen Social Solidarity, COVID-19: Indonesia Will Win.”

Apart from being a change of clothes, this t-shirt was also made as a campaign medium for the public to maintain a safe distance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Then YIIM also provided 100 packages of packed rice for PMI South Jakarta volunteers.

YIIM distributed 17 dozen cloth masks to PMI Central Jakarta. By distributing cloth masks, YIIM is committed to socializing to the public the importance of wearing masks to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through the “tagline” campaign #Maskers for the People# and #Let’s Wear Masks# YIIM encourages people to wear masks, especially when doing activities outside the home and why cloth masks were chosen, because YIIM wants to encourage people not to buy up masks that are specifically used by medical personnel.

Chrisbiantoro said the spirit of this assistance remains the same as the assistance distributed by YIIM previously, namely helping to overcome COVID-19 while also helping the community’s economy.

According to him, buying aid packages from small stalls, ordering masks from MSME tailors and involving online motorbike taxis will revive and help the community’s economic resilience during the pandemic.

Kebayoran Baru District Health Center officer Sudarmi expressed his appreciation and thanks for the assistance from YIIM.

“These masks will be very useful and we will also distribute them to patients who visit the Puskesmas to prevent transmission of COVID-19,” he said.

YIIM’s active role in dealing with COVID-19 is a concrete manifestation of one of YIIM’s care programs through social and humanitarian assistance programs.

YIIM, which was founded in 2014, is committed to channeling all funds and assistance collected for programs that bring change and benefits to society at large, including humanitarian programs during the COVID-19 era.
