The Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) (INSIGHT) are always committed to supporting the strengthening of community independence through a series of inclusive and sustainable empowerment initiatives.

In the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak, there are still many informal workers who scrape by for a bite of rice. They are determined to violate government recommendations for social distancing in order to work so they can go home with food for their families. Seeing a situation like this, the Indonesian Building Inspiration Foundation (YMII) together with its main partner Insight Investment Management distributed assistance in the form of food and basic necessities for those who were still working outside.

On April 1 and 2 2020, they distributed 300 rice boxes and 100 basic food packages to small communities such as parking attendants, scavengers, buskers and informal workers such as street vendors. The distribution process also involved online motorcycle taxis which had few passengers because no one left the house. Small rice stalls are also involved so that they can earn income.

“We order packaged rice from simple small rice stalls using online motorcycle taxi services and then distribute it to small communities,” said Dewi Astari as Program and Institutional Director of the Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation, Friday (3/4/2020). The distribution was carried out in several areas in DKI Jakarta, including Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

They also visited Citayam and Depok Beji to distribute basic necessities. It doesn’t stop there, his party has also sprayed disinfectant in several places of worship in the South Jakarta area. Dewi hopes that this assistance can be useful for workers whose livelihood has been eroded due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

“Even though we don’t give much, we believe that the little bit we do will help microeconomic resilience,” he said.
