The Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) (INSIGHT) are always committed to supporting the strengthening of community independence through a series of inclusive and sustainable empowerment initiatives.

Residents in RW11 Bukit Duri Subdistrict, Tebet, South Jakarta, have started pioneering a live plant and vegetable plant center along the banks of the Ciliwung River.

“Today we received assistance of around 1,000 live pharmacy tree seeds and vegetables from the Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) and PT Insight,” said Chairman of RW11 Bukit Duri Muhammad Siroj in Jakarta, Sunday.

Assistance for vegetable plant seeds consisting of eggplant, chilies, cingcau, basil, oranges, tomatoes and so on.

Meanwhile, the types of living pharmacy include turmeric, ginger, galangal andalem, citronella, dewa leaves and aloe vera.

Siroj said that all the seeds would be planted along the 300 meter side of the Ciliwung River Inspection Road.

“This plant will be powered by around 800 heads of families in my area. Hopefully it can become a pilot project for living and vegetable pharmacies in Jakarta,” he said.

Chairman of the Indonesian Building Inspiration Foundation, Kris Biantoro, said that the assistance of plant seeds was his party’s effort to green riverbank areas in Jakarta.

“We collected plant seeds from various groups, one of which was PT Insight which donated 322 plant seeds. We dropped the rest,” he said.

Greening efforts in coastal areas are a form of social responsibility in an effort to reduce levels of dirty air in Jakarta.

“This is also part of our response to the dirty air in Jakarta, hopefully in the future the air in Jakarta will get better,” he said.

Meanwhile, the ceremony of handing over plant seeds was also accompanied by a presentation by a plant expert from Trubus, Gunadi, to invite the public to breed live apothecary and vegetables.

The event was also attended by representatives from the South Jakarta City Council and local community leaders.

Through this synergy and initiative, the Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) hopes that the programs implemented can provide real benefits, open up wider opportunities for independence for participants, and actively contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
