Sewing Vocational Training Equips Pondok Bambu Female Inmates with Productive Skills
Thirty female inmates at Pondok Bambu Penitentiary mastered professional garment sewing and tailoring techniques with modern machinery to support rehabilitation.

The Indonesian Inspiration Building Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Insight Investments Management organized an Intensive Sewing and Garment Production Vocational Training for 30 female inmates at Class IIA Pondok Bambu Women’s Penitentiary, East Jakarta.
This initiative aimed to provide inmates with high-demand manufacturing skills, fostering self-reliance and boosting productivity during their correctional period while preparing them for post-release employment or home-based tailoring enterprises.
Under the instruction of master garment tailors, participants learned fabric measurement, pattern drafting, precision cutting, high-speed industrial sewing machine operation, zipper installation, edging (obras), and final garment assembly for shirts, skirts, and prayer garments (mukena).
YIIM also provided industrial sewing machines, pattern templates, and fabric rolls to reinforce the penitentiary’s vocational workshop unit.
This program embodies continuous rehabilitation support, advancing SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.
Inspiration Greetings!
