Jakarta, 7 October 2024-Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Pembangunan (YIIM) together with Insight Investments Management carried out community empowerment program activities through the AC (Air Conditioner) Washing and Service Training Program which was held for 3 days, namely on 2-4 October 2024. The aim of this program is to provide knowledge and opportunities for the community to be able to improve economic conditions through AC washing and servicing entrepreneurship. This training was attended by 10 participants from different backgrounds, such as victims of termination of employment relations (PHK), online motorcycle taxis, and those who were not yet working. The trainer for this training is Isnaini Hasan, she is an alumnus of the YIIM AC Washing Training in 2020 and is currently an AC washing and servicing technician under the name Ar-Rayyaan Teknik. Apart from that, he is also a senior employee at a company that operates in the vehicle cooling sector.

On the first day of activities, participants were asked to complete a pre-test to see the participants’ initial knowledge regarding AC. Next, participants were presented with basic material as an introduction to the AC working system. The delivery of this material aims to improve participants how AC works to produce cool temperatures in a room. Apart from that, participants were also given material related to AC components and the formula for calculating AC specifications according to the room to be cooled as well as calculating the electrical flow in the AC. This is one of the important things when becoming an AC technician and one of the initial analyzes in checking for damage to the AC. In the final session, participants were given material regarding the work ethics of AC technicians.

On the second day, participants were given introductory material regarding the refrigerant or freon used in AC and the use of AC service tools such as Ampere pliers, after that participants practiced installing AC pipes and practiced filling AC refrigant with type R410A. Refrigerant charging is one of the skills that an AC technician must master. Next, participants carried out the practice of removing and installing the AC starting from the cover to the components inside and at the same time explaining if there were certain problems or obstacles, what possible components needed to be checked. After carrying out the practice of removing and installing the AC, participants practiced cutting and flaring the AC pipe, this really determines whether the AC installation is successful or not because if they fail to cut and flaring the pipe, the AC will not be optimal in cooling the room.

On the third day, participants will practice washing the AC. Before doing the practice, participants were shown how to wash the AC first and how to use the AC washing tool by the trainer. After participants understand how to wash the AC, participants practice washing the AC using the SOP that has been demonstrated by the trainer. This event is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDGs 1 on fighting poverty and SDGs 8 on decent work and economic growth.

By holding this AC Washing and Service Training, YIIM hopes to help the community, especially those belonging to vulnerable groups, to be empowered so they can participate actively in the economic sector. Apart from that, it can also help participants to develop knowledge and skills to start their business.

Salam Inspirasi!
