Farmers and residents of Tepus Village, Gunungkidul Regency, took part in practical financial literacy and marketing strategy training on Thursday, 17 September 2026. This workshop concluded the Community Partnership Program (PKM) series led by the Indonesian Inspiration Building Foundation (YIIM) in collaboration with Politeknik LPP Yogyakarta, PT Insight Investments Management, and Dana Pensiun Perkebunan (DAPENBUN).

The final phase concentrated on building rural business capacity, guiding local producers to package, brand, and sell value-added products made from agricultural corn waste.

Product Packaging, Digital Marketing, and Financial Records

Twenty participants representing local farming groups engaged in classroom discussions and hands-on exercises focused on three core areas:

  • Packaging and Brand Identity: Participants practiced packing corn-waste biochar and fuel briquettes into standardized pouches fitted with professional brand labels.
  • Digital Marketing: Guidance on setting up WhatsApp Business and social media accounts to connect rural products with buyers beyond the subdistrict.
  • Basic Financial Bookkeeping: Training on recording daily cash inflows and operational expenses to keep group accounts orderly and transparent.

With these skills, products that previously sat unbranded now have clear packaging and shelf appeal. Group leaders also gained an initial accounting system that supports better institutional governance.

Program Conclusion and Long-Term Sustainability

The workshop concluded the field partnership program in Tepus. During an evaluation session with Tepus Village officials, partners reviewed project outcomes and established follow-up steps so community members can sustain biochar and briquette production independently.

This initiative directly supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
