Youth for Climate Action book launch and dissemination webinar

Jakarta, 5 June 2024 – The Indonesian Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) with support from PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) held a dissemination and book launch webinar entitled “Youth for Climate Action: Good Practices for Youth Advocacy for Climate Change”. This event is the culmination of a series of youth advocacy activities that have been taking place in the city of Bandung since February 2024, while also commemorating World Environment Day. The webinar can be watched via the You Tube link

In February, YIIM collaborated with U-Report Indonesia and the IBU Foundation to organize advocacy training to equip young people with the skills and knowledge needed to support climate and humanitarian action. Apart from training, this program also provides an opportunity for organizations led by young people to submit advocacy plans and obtain funding of two million rupiah.

In the period March-April 2024, these organizations are implementing their advocacy programs with a focus on three main themes: disaster preparedness, waste management, and increasing awareness of the climate crisis. This webinar aims to disseminate the results of actions that have been taken, share experiences, and explain effective good practices in advocating for climate change issues. It is hoped that this event will provide guidance for similar initiatives in the future, build a stronger community, and expand collaboration networks.

The launch of the book “Youth for Climate Action: Good Practices for Youth Advocacy for Climate Change” aims to document the entire process and results of the program, provide long-term references, and encourage more concrete action in voicing climate and humanitarian issues. This book presents various strategies and best practices discovered during program implementation, which can be used as a guide for other young people in carrying out environmental advocacy. This book can be accessed here

This webinar was presented by Ikrom Mustofa, founder of the Climate Smart Generation Foundation, who delivered material regarding an introduction to climate change and its impact on children and young people. Apart from that, Salma Fauzani, a young advocate who represents one of the organizations selected in the advocacy action, shared stories about the beginning of the formation of her organization, the challenges faced, and good practices discovered during the implementation action.

With this event, YIIM hopes to create a larger and more diverse movement in dealing with climate change and disasters through collaboration and sharing good practices carried out by the younger generation. It is hoped that strong collaboration and good documentation can add credibility to the program, motivate further support from the community, and invite more people to get involved in this movement.

Salam Inspirasi!
