For Dapik, learning to operate vehicle pressure-washing equipment created a practical route back to earning a living. At 53, he joined the first vehicle-washing social entrepreneurship training organized by Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun, or YIIM, and PT Insight Investments Management in 2022.

Dapik is a client of the Central Jakarta Class I Probation Office. He lives with his wife in Kemayoran and has four adult children. Before serving a six-year sentence, he had worked for the sanitation department since the early 2000s. When he received conditional release in 2022, he faced a year of mandatory reporting and had no income.

Determined to support his daily needs, Dapik opened a small food stall at the probation office canteen. He sold instant noodles, fried rice, and coffee, earning about Rp80,000 in net income. The business gave him a starting point, but he continued looking for another opportunity that could improve his financial stability.

A community supervisor at the probation office invited Dapik to join one of the available training programs. He chose vehicle washing because the skill appeared straightforward, practical, and suitable for a small independent enterprise. Although he had never used a pressure washer before, he focused on both the classroom instruction and hands-on practice until he became comfortable with the equipment.

After the training, YIIM and Insight Investments Management provided the Central Jakarta Probation Office with vehicle-washing equipment. Dapik used the support to launch C&K, short for Community and Clients, in November 2022. He operates the service in front of the probation office canteen while continuing his food business.

C&K opens from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. A wash for a small motorcycle costs Rp15,000, while motorcycles with engines of 150cc or more cost between Rp20,000 and Rp25,000.

On an average day, Dapik washes five or six motorcycles. During busy periods, that number can reach 10 to 12. The service generates about Rp100,000 in daily net income, with his best day reaching Rp200,000.

The additional revenue has reduced his dependence on the food stall and given him a stronger foundation for meeting everyday expenses. Dapik hopes to attract more customers and eventually open another vehicle-washing branch.

His experience shows how practical training and access to essential equipment can help someone rebuild economic independence. Dapik remains grateful to YIIM and Insight Investments Management for making it possible for him to turn a new skill into a functioning business.
