Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), supported by PT Insight Investments Management, assisted the Apatte62 research team at Universitas Brawijaya in developing energy-efficient, environmentally responsible vehicles. The team researches low-emission mobility technologies intended to reduce the environmental impact that contributes to global warming.

The partnership supported Apatte62’s participation in the Indonesia International Hydrogen Summit 2024 in Jakarta, the Shell Eco-marathon Asia in West Nusa Tenggara, and the national Energy-Efficient Car Contest scheduled for October.

On Monday, 24 June 2024, 28 students and two supervising lecturers attended a departure ceremony on the sixth floor of the Universitas Brawijaya Rectorate. Vice Rector for Student Affairs Dr Setiawan Noerdajasakti formally sent off the team for the Shell Eco-marathon, held from 2 to 6 July 2024 at the Mandalika Circuit.

The competition challenged teams to design, build, test, and drive vehicles using as little energy as possible. Apatte62 competed against 80 teams from 12 countries across Asia Pacific and the Middle East. It was the team’s third appearance at the Shell Eco-marathon in Mandalika.

The team won first place in the hydrogen prototype category with Anagata FCV and second place in the electric urban category with Marsela EV. These results continued a strong record: Apatte62 won the electric urban category in 2023 and, in 2022, placed first in hydrogen prototype and second in electric urban.

Ria M. Warganda, Director of Insight, explained that support was provided through the Insight Renewable Energy Fund. She said Apatte62’s research had significant potential, both for advancing energy-efficient technology and for inspiring young people to innovate.

The initiative formed part of Insight’s corporate social and environmental responsibility commitment to environmentally responsible technology research. It contributes to SDG 13: Climate Action and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
