Demand for air-conditioning servicing and cleaning continues to grow as more households and businesses rely on cooling systems, particularly in urban areas. This creates practical employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for people with the right technical skills.

To help participants pursue those opportunities, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) and PT Insight Investment Management held AC Servicing and Cleaning Entrepreneurship Training from 23 to 25 June 2026 at the YIIM office through the Masyarakat Terampil dan Berdaya, or MATA, program.

The training involved 10 participants organized into five groups of two. The group structure encouraged collaboration and prepared participants to consider developing AC servicing and cleaning businesses together after the program.

Suaib, S.I.P., who has more than 20 years of experience in the AC industry as an installer, troubleshooting technician, and HVAC design engineer, led the training. He was assisted by Bambang Setiaji, a YIIM AC-training alumnus who has developed an independent servicing and cleaning business.

On the first day, participants studied the fundamentals of air-conditioning systems, including how AC units work, the functions of their components, and the supporting electrical system.

The second day focused on technical servicing skills. Participants learned about refrigerants and servicing tools, then practiced removing and installing components, connecting indoor and outdoor units, flaring pipes, filling refrigerant, vacuuming systems, and analyzing AC faults.

On the third day, participants learned AC-cleaning techniques and how to use supporting equipment such as jet cleaners and protective covers. They completed a cleaning simulation based on the procedures taught by the trainers. The program also covered professional ethics and effective customer service.

Through the combination of theory, direct practice, professional guidance, and customer-service preparation, YIIM expects participants to become more confident in seeking technical employment or developing independent AC service businesses.

The initiative contributes to SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
