Youth Climate Action Book Launch Shares Advocacy Lessons from West Java
YIIM and its partners launched a practical guide documenting youth-led advocacy on disaster preparedness, waste management, and climate awareness in Bandung.

On 5 June 2024, World Environment Day, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM), supported by PT Insight Investments Management, held a dissemination webinar and launched the book Youth for Climate Action: Good Practices in Youth Advocacy Action for Climate Change.
The event marked the culmination of a youth advocacy series delivered in Bandung since February 2024. YIIM had worked with U-Report Indonesia and IBU Foundation to equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed to support climate and humanitarian action.
After the training, youth-led organizations could submit advocacy plans and receive Rp2,000,000 in funding. From March through April 2024, selected groups implemented activities focused on disaster preparedness, waste management, and greater awareness of the climate crisis.
The webinar shared results, participant experiences, and effective advocacy practices. It was intended to guide future initiatives, strengthen the youth climate community, and expand collaboration networks.
The book documented the program’s process, results, strategies, and lessons as a long-term reference. By making these practices accessible, YIIM hoped to encourage more young people to speak and act on environmental and humanitarian issues.
Ikrom Mustofa, founder of Yayasan Generasi Cerdas Iklim, introduced climate change and its effects on children and young people. Salma Fauzani, a young advocate representing one of the selected organizations, described how her organization began, the challenges it faced, and lessons from implementing its advocacy plan.
Through the webinar and publication, YIIM and Insight sought to build a larger and more diverse movement addressing climate change and disasters. Stronger collaboration and careful documentation were expected to improve program credibility, motivate public support, and invite wider participation.
Salam Inspirasi!
