Setapak! 2025 Creates a Better Place to Learn and Dream in Way Lunik

Setapak! 2025, a social initiative spearheaded by the Indonesian Students Association of Australia (PPIA) University of Melbourne, returned with its ongoing commitment to supporting children’s education in Indonesia.

In its 2025 edition, the program focused on enhancing learning facilities and experiences at SDN 1 Way Lunik in Bandar Lampung. Over three days, volunteers and supporting organizations worked hand-in-hand to create a safer, more comfortable, and adequate learning environment for the students.

The program received full backing from Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) and PT Insight Investments Management as primary sponsors. This contribution enabled a series of activities covering physical school renovations, interactive learning, and the provision of essential educational kits.

Approximately 180 children took part in engaging educational activities. Through fun educational games and introductory English sessions, they were invited to learn in a joyous atmosphere designed to cultivate curiosity, active participation, and self-confidence.

Each child received a new school bag filled with stationery kits and appreciation souvenirs. Clean drinking water and healthy snacks were provided daily to ensure the children’s comfort and concentration throughout the activities.

Alongside the educational programs, the initiative carried out physical facility renovations. These repairs aimed to establish decent, safe, and conducive learning spaces for children to study, interact, and pursue their dreams.

A total of 26 volunteers were directly involved in executing the three-day program. Sponsor support helped meet their operational needs, including transportation, accommodation, meals, and logistics, allowing volunteers to focus entirely on teaching and mentoring the students.

Setapak! 2025 demonstrated the high value of collaboration among student communities, non-profits, the private sector, volunteers, and schools. By uniting resources, expertise, and a shared passion for education, partners touched both physical facilities and the children’s educational experience.

This program contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education through facility improvements and interactive learning. It also supports SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by expanding educational access in Way Lunik, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through cross-sector synergy.

Far more than a one-time event, Setapak! represents a tangible step toward building inclusive, sustainable learning environments. Its impact is visible not only in renovated classrooms or distributed supplies, but in the growing confidence of children who feel supported and empowered to weave a brighter future.

Because a better future always begins with one real step of care.

Inspiration Greetings!
