Villages play a central role in Indonesia’s national development and form the foundation for sustainable prosperity. Girimukti Village in Cilograng District, Lebak Regency, possesses abundant natural resources and human potential, yet much of it remains underutilized.

Residents face limited access to education, healthcare, information, and technology due to the village’s remote location and underdeveloped infrastructure, such as damaged roads and lack of internet connectivity. Other challenges include high dropout rates, a lack of community learning centers, low student motivation, and limited parental awareness regarding the importance of schooling.

Villagers also lacked knowledge on processing agricultural commodities into higher value-added goods. Furthermore, indiscriminate waste disposal in rivers and backyards caused environmental and health issues.

In response, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) together with PT Insight Investment Management collaborated with Yayasan Antara Cipta Karsa (Yayasan Naratas) through its Gerakan Muda Cendikia unit to implement the Garda Bersama Desa Batch 5 program.

The initiative ran from July 20 to August 4, 2025, reaching elementary, middle, and high school students, youth groups (karang taruna), farmers, homemakers, women farmers’ groups (KWT), and the broader Girimukti community.

Activities included study mentoring, literacy workshops, establishing a community reading corner, village entrepreneurship training, local product processing, sustainable agriculture training with appropriate technology, crop diversification, and Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) education.

Approximately 300 residents benefited directly, while an estimated 3,000 community members benefited indirectly. The program aimed to boost education and literacy, raise awareness of local economic potential, hone entrepreneurial and product innovation skills, encourage eco-friendly modern farming, increase farm productivity, and cultivate healthy living habits.

Garda Bersama Desa Batch 5 forms part of YIIM’s Community Empowerment, Education, and Humanitarian pillars, reflecting PT Insight Investment Management’s corporate social responsibility.

This initiative contributes to SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.

Inspiration Greetings!
