Financial Literacy Training Enhances Productive Empowerment at Pondok Bambu Penitentiary
Inmates at Pondok Bambu Women's Detention Center gained crucial financial management, savings, and debt-prevention skills to support independent reintegration.

To ensure holistic vocational empowerment, the Indonesian Inspiration Building Foundation (YIIM) and PT Insight Investments Management delivered a dedicated Financial Literacy and Personal Finance Training for inmates at the Class I Pondok Bambu Women’s Detention Center, East Jakarta.
Financial vulnerability and predatory debt often act as underlying factors leading to legal troubles. This curriculum was specifically tailored to teach inmates practical strategies for managing personal and family finances, breaking cycles of debt, budgeting daily expenses, and setting realistic savings goals.
Through interactive workshops and real-life case studies, participants learned how to distinguish between basic needs and wants, track daily income and expenditure, plan emergency funds, and utilize safe financial products upon their release.
Detention center authorities expressed deep gratitude for the program, emphasizing that financial education is a vital foundation for sustaining the commercial success of vocational skills learned inside the facility.
This program contributes to SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
Inspiration Greetings!
