The Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) (INSIGHT) are always committed to supporting the strengthening of community independence through a series of inclusive and sustainable empowerment initiatives.

, JAKARTA – The Indonesia Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) is collaborating with the May 18 Memorial Foundation (May 18 Memorialization Foundation) from Gwangju, South Korea to hold a series of events commemorating international Human Rights Day (HAM) from 10 to 15 December 2020.

Chairman of the YIIM Management Chrisbiantoro said that the 18 May Foundation from South Korea is independent and is concerned with empowering disadvantaged communities and encouraging peace and strengthening democracy and human rights in Asia. One of the activities is a webinar with the theme of supporting the government in realizing the promotion, protection and fulfillment of Human Rights.

“The webinar forum was attended by 50 people from various backgrounds, including YIIM beneficiaries, students, social activists, and others,” said Chrisbiantoro in his statement, Tuesday (15/12).

The webinar featured Yoojung Hong, representative of the May 18 Memorial Foundation, Amich Alhumami as Director of Education and Religion at the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), and Muhamad Daud as Commissioner of the Aceh Truth and Reconciliation Commission (KKR) as resource persons. Next there is the Chairman of the YIIM Management Chrisbiantoro, and Wanma Yetty as an alumni of YIIM’s entrepreneurial economic empowerment. The speakers supported the government so that development and economic equality go hand in hand with human rights so that a peaceful and just Indonesia can be realized, especially regarding development and economic growth, as mandated in the Sustainable Development Goals in Presidential Regulation Number 59 of 2015.

Yoojung Hong, representative of the May 18 Memorial Foundation expressed hope that Indonesia can quickly recover and hopes that development will always support the strengthening of democracy and human rights. Furthermore, Amich Alhumami said, Bappenas plays an important role in development in Indonesia and is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“Even though the SDGs themselves are very broad, eradicating poverty, preventing hunger and others must be priority programs. We welcome cooperation with various components of the nation,” said Amich.

Amich also explained several local creativity such as jungle schools and various local initiatives that should be supported to realize the SDGs so that no one is left behind (No One Left Behind). Still related to Human Rights Day, YIIM and main partner PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) held several series of social services distributing basic food packages in several areas, including 100 packages for the people of Gorontalo and 100 basic food packages for the people of Oemasi Village, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). This activity will continue with the assistance of 100 basic food packages each for the people of Karawang and the people of Subang, West Java.

Previously, YIIM and PT. Insight Investments Management also handed over 100 PPE and changes of clothing to medical personnel at the Athlete’s House. The basic food packages consist of rice, sugar, oil, tea, eggs, instant noodles, vitamins and masks. As well as assistance for the needs of several less fortunate toddlers in Oemasi Village, Kupang Regency. This assistance is provided to ease the burden on communities affected by Covid-19 so that they have food reserves and vitamin needs. “The series of social activities held by YIIM and PT. Insight is part of a series of previous activities entitled social assistance throughout the archipelago. We hope that people affected by Covid-19 can be helped,” said PT Insight representative Dwi Laksmi Anggita Sari on a separate occasion. (cuy/jpnn)
