In order to continue the assistance program for the construction of Artesian Drilled Wells in 2021, in May 2023 YIIM together with PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) provided assistance in providing piping for artesian wells in the East Java region. YIIM is supported by PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) in collaboration with the Gemah Mustika Insani Foundation (YGMI) in implementing the procurement of piped artesian well drilling.

Pipeline procurement assistance was provided in two locations. The first location in the Wonogiri Regency area is precisely in Wates Hamlet, Jatinom Village, Sidoharjo, Regency. Wonogiri, Central Java with the pipeline construction process from 13 May 2023 to 28 May 2023. With a pipe length of 800 meters. The beneficiaries of pipeline assistance were 15 heads of families (KK) totaling 48 people, 10 agricultural lands, and 1 cemetery, a pilgrimage site.

The second location is in the Ponorogo Regency area, precisely in Gelangkulon Village, Sampung District, Ponorogo Regency, East Java, the work process will be from May 13 2023 to June 2023. With a pipeline length of 370 meters. The beneficiaries of pipeline assistance for 10 families were 40 people, 10 plots of agricultural land, and one worship facility, the Shirothol Mustaqin Mosque.

Before assistance was provided to provide pipes, residents of Wates Hamlet, Sidoharjo, Wonogiri Regency, Central Java were an area whose source of livelihood only relied on fields or rain-fed land. So that during the dry season a lot of unproductive land is left without plants. and also because it is located in the highlands, water sources are also lacking. To provide clean water, take it from natural sources which are located about 2 km far from settlements and are located on the river bank. If a flood occurs, the water obtained is murky and pipes are often washed away. So people’s standard of living is only limited to meeting daily needs. After assistance with the provision of community plumbing in Wates Hamlet, Sidoharjo, Regency. Wonogiri only needs to travel 200-400 meters to get water.

Meanwhile, for the people of Sodong Hamlet, Gelangkulon Village, Kec. Sampung, Regency. Ponorogo, East Java province, is a rocky area with extreme roads, and clean water is very difficult to obtain. During the dry season, people have to travel a distance of 700 meters to a water source, but now, after providing assistance, the community only needs to travel 150 meters to get clean water. So, by providing artesian well piping, this can help the lives of residents a lot.

We hope that by providing this pipeline, the community will be helped with clean water during the dry season and farmers will be more productive.”

Maintenance of both the water machine and the electricity supply of the drilled atheroscence well and piping will then be supervised by YIIM and YGMI in coordination with regional stakeholders and residents Wates Hamlet, Jatinom Village, Sidoharjo, Regency. Wonogiri and Gelangkulon Village, Sampung District, Regency to help maintain the existence of the well. Artesian drilled well water is provided free of charge and is currently being used for clean water purposes in every resident’s house, caring for residents’ agricultural land, and for ablutions in places of worship and cemeteries. This well is an investment in goodness and will be useful for generations to come.

This program is in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDGs no. 3 regarding health, namely ensuring a healthy life and improving health/well-being at all ages and SDGs no. 6 ensuring the availability and sustainable management of clean water and sanitation for all. Apart from that, this program supports one of the government’s three priority programs, namely superior human resources (HR), where access to clean water and proper sanitation are key factors determining the quality of a person’s health. Number 17 is about partnerships to achieve goals.
