The Indonesia Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) together with PT Pertamina Training and Consulting are always committed to supporting strengthening community independence through a series of inclusive and sustainable empowerment initiatives.

, KEBAYORAN BARU – PT Pertamina Training and Consulting (PTC) is holding coffee barista training for people with disabilities in Jakarta.

In the coffee barista training, PTC collaborated with the Indonesia Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM).

PTC Main Director Teuku Mirasfi said the training was held to increase the knowledge and skills of people with disabilities.

And most importantly, people with disabilities can be independent, equal and competitive.

“This training is a starting point for friends to be able to be empowered independently and to develop their capacity to become stronger,” said Teuku Mirasfi in a statement released, Tuesday (27/9/2022).

“There is already an example, one of the previous year’s alumni, Mr. Aries, has been promoted to assistant trainer for this training. We will monitor and help so that the participants can be independent through coffee entrepreneurship,” he added.

Since 2017, continued Teuku, PTC through the TJSL program has paid attention to disability inclusion groups with various category backgrounds such as autistic, deaf and physically disabled.

He said that the coffee barista training for people with disabilities was the second year for PTC to continue the spirit of empowerment.

“This training activity will be carried out on 19-21 September 2022, online and offline with a selection system to select business assistance beneficiaries,” he said.

A total of 38 friends with disabilities were selected from the blind, low vision, deaf and quadriplegic categories to take part in online training and 20 people were selected through a written selection and interview system to take part in direct training at Ko+labora Flexispace, Jakarta.

“Of the total participants, 10 participants were deaf and 9 participants were deaf and 1 participant was blind with low vision. The blind friends were assisted by two interpreters from JBI in listening to the material,” explained Teuku Mirasfi.

The material taught in the training includes an introduction to barista tools and making espresso menus, practice using manual coffee equipment and making manual brew menus such as V60, Vietnamese drip, aero press and French press.

Apart from that, participants were taught to make basic menus such as americano, long black, coffee latte, and modern milk coffee.

“Apart from applicable training, participants also received material about calculating coffee business capital,” concluded Teuku Mirasfi.
