CO.ID, JAKARTA — Investment Manager, PT Insight Investments Management (INSIGHT) (Insight) is collaborating with the Indonesian Building Inspiration Foundation (YIIM) and the Indonesian Thalassemia Foundation (YTI) regarding detection services for people with Thalassemia. Beneficiaries who are children with Thalassemia Major will take part in a health examination program and have examination results in the form of knee ultrasound expertise as an effort to prevent the risk of disability.

Director of Insight Investments Management Ria Meristika Warganda said this program involved 50 children with Thalassemia aged two to 17 years, who were divided into two examination days. “Investors who have invested through the mutual fund products Insight Money (I-Money) and Insight Money Syariah (I-Money Syariah) have contributed to encouraging various activities and programs to build a healthier Indonesia from an early age,” he said in an official statement, Tuesday (19/10).

Thalassemia is a blood disorder that is inherited from one or both parents and causes sufferers to experience anemia or lack of blood. The complaints felt by Thalassemia sufferers are getting tired quickly, getting sleepy easily, and even shortness of breath.

Meanwhile, YIIM Chairman Chrisbiantoro added that with this program, socialization and education regarding Thalassemia will be more intensive, so that people will also understand and be more aware about Thalassemia. “Indonesia is a country with a prevalence of thalassemia reaching around 3.8 percent of the entire population,” he said.

Chairman of the Indonesian Thalassemia Foundation, Ruswandi, said that currently there are more than 10,531 Thalassemia patients in Indonesia, and it is estimated that around 2,500 babies are born with this condition every year. “West Java Province is the area with the highest prevalence of Thalassemia in Indonesia,” he said.

Head of Investment Specialist and Coordinator of the CSR Insight Investments Management Team, Suluh Tripambudi Rahardjo, said that his party is trying to show its commitment to supporting the achievement of a better quality of life through various efforts to improve public health, especially dealing with rare diseases, one of which is Thalassemia.

“Insight Investments Management together with YIIM and YTI emphasize the importance of family support (caregiver) and access to health services for patients to live in peace with Thalassemia. People with Thalassemia need early treatment and routine therapy,” he said.

Through this synergy and initiative, the Indonesian Inspiration for Building Foundation (YIIM) hopes that the programs implemented can provide real benefits, open up wider opportunities for independence for participants, and actively contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
